Advantages: Murderers get a snapped neck. Families of the murdered get their justice
Disadvantages: People who disagree would protest
I hope i don't offend anyone by this review.
My History room is a room of information. We have a Nazi flag up at the back of our class and facts dotted around the room. Did you know that the first Bomb dropped on Berlin in World War 1 killed an elephant at the Zoo? Did you also know that the last person to be hanged (maybe legally killed) in France was in just 1976 too?
I have no personal stories to tell you to do with this, but im guessing that most people that have wrote about Capital punishment have not either, just strong opinions.
To be honest, if i found someone very dear to me was murdered, i'd want to track than piece of crap down and kill him real good and make him/her suffer and know my 'opinions' on Capital Punishment. however, if it is allowed, it would be less effort for me I am totally for capital punishment and would give it a 4 or 5 star rating if it were not for the number of innocents murdered.
Now why should capital punishment be erected in the UK-
If you read the newspapers, you will find out that the prisons are owerflowing as it is, and lets face it, Britain isn't getting better. So if you kill the murderers, then, woohoo, there is 1 more space in jail for another prisoner. However, one reason i think that the UK does not have this in at the moment is because it costs money to kill them. But, doesn't it cost money to keep them in jail too, and why, just because of money should a murderer be allowed to live.
E.g.-If a murderer killed a twelve year old girl, he has just killed the girl forever. He has not only hade her miss 60 odd years of her life, but also killed grief to her family and friends, and then he getsa 'life sentance'' which in the UK probably averages about 15-20 years. People live until they are in their 80s nowadays folks, not 20.
Some poeple may argue though that you will cause grief to the murderers family too, but the murdered has killed (obviously), and you haven't broke the law, so i would still say bring in the guillotine.
One murderer i have read about in the Metro newspaper said he shouldn't be killed and that 'it is no more than a revenge act'. Who does he think he is. It is putting the family at ease.
Moreover though, some people (i.e religious, not me) will disagree with capital punishment even if someone they know has been killed. After all, it goes against Jesus' teachings.
A story in the bible mentions that when people tried to save Jesus from the Jews, he said not and to leave them alone, because its not right to kill.
However, this is a none-religious world and i am a none-religious person, so i don't care. Jesus could have been saved. What i am leading too though is that if someone has been murdered and their family disagree with the death sentance, then the lucky bugger should just rot away in jail forever, with no TV. Death Row takes ages though too, so that is a let down.
Now on to the types of death-lethal injection, electric chair, guillotine, hanging etc.
To be honest, most of them are too fast. Murderers don't generally ask the victim if they would like a fast deatch, so i think that when they are hanged, instead of dropping them so they snap their neck instantly, leave them hanging for a while longer.
Will it stop murderers though? I think it will stop some. What would scare you more, 15 years 'life sentance', or death by electrocution. Why should prisoners be let out of jail early for good behaviour, it doesn't stop the victim(s) coming back does it. If the murderer fries, they won't be coming back either would they
I do disagree with people watching though. I think that only relatives & friends of the victim should have the opportunity to stare into the murderers cold, heartless eyes and laugh as he he is dying. ( i wouldn't, because it would bring back memories of the victim-watching the killer die, so i'd stare into his eyes and make sure he knows it is justice. I know this isn't used but flaming someone, in my opinion is not an option either.
However, i have only gave it 3 stars for a reason. There should have to be sufficient evidence to prove the suggested killer is a murderer (which would shorten the death row list) but if innocents are saved, it may be worth while.
I don't see it happening with labour in charge though. It is a weak government in my opinion, and so i think, unless the UK gets worse, so much to the point it would be scary to go outside anywhere (im exaggurating a bit), it will not happen until im at least in my 70's. Who knows though.
Death Sentance-it should be a worldwide law.
Keep Britain tidy and kill a murderer today.
Summary: Is it right? Ask yourself if you would kill someone who killed your family.
