Advantages: stops crime
Disadvantages: irriversable
Capital punishment brings together the dispute of "An eye for an eye" against basic human rights.
I personally can understand the call for the return of Capital Punishment in the most severe cases of serial killers, serial rapists, peadophiles etc. However the question of miscarages of justice has to come into play with many people being wrongly convicted, spending many years in prison which is atleast better than loosing their lives due to Capital Punishment. However with the cases highlighted, serial killers, serial rapist, serial criminals shows that miscarages of justice are unlikely as previous convictions have already been made and evidence has been provided This shows justification of Capital Punishment as no remorse has been shown and the crime has been repeatedly commited.
Serial Criminals kept in prison are costing X ammount per year to the tax payer keeping a uncontrolable deviant alive who perhaps should have lost the right to live as a result of their crime which has ruined another persons life or caused the loss of life.
The issue with causing pain in the process of Capital Punishment is not such a big issue as advances in medical science have provided a painless executional method.
Capital Punishment highlights the question of whether or not a living person can loose thier right to life, one of, if not the most fundamental rights a person can have. But with todays exteremeties in terroism and crime, maby it is a more prevalant issue to fight fire with fire.
I feel that a more forceful deterrant is needed, to curb the rising crime rates and in effect reduce if not extinguish serious crimes.
Overall i aggree with the return of Capital punishment in the most fitting situations. Where serious crimes have been comited a number of times resulting in concrete evidence proving their guilt. Crime is evolving into the future, maby punishment should look back to the past.
Summary: Crime is evolving into the future, maby punishment should look back to the past.
