Advantages: great for the convicts!!

Disadvantages: hard on the broken family

Am I right in thinking this is about jail sentences?? If so read on, If not ignore me!!!!

My views on capital punishment........
I think life sentences should automatically mean LIFE, not 11 years or so, earlier release for good behaviour!! If they were good people in the first place they would not be locked up!

I think capital punishment in the USA is harsh, by this I mean it's so completely different to the way the UK handles things.

Death Row..... Now how scary a term does that sound?? I would hate it! I would rather be shot instead of being given this sentence, OK I know the people on death row are usually highly dangerous inmates, but occasionally there is an innocent on there.....
I think if Britain were to adopt the americans way of thinking, crime rates would be so much lower.... we have so many petty thieves who know they can get away with the petty crimes they commit such as car theft, shed robberys, etc.. this usually results in a fine and community service.

America have long tough sentences for petty crimes never mind murder, and the such.

We have heard how prisoners here get comfort, a tv, a games console, to be honest they get a life of luxury. Someone I know once said to me...... I go inside 'cos it's like a holiday camp.....free bed and board' how shocking is that!!! They get so much stuff and whats worse is all friends end up grouped together in the same prison!!!

We need tougher sentences to make people think twice, but what we don't want is a knife and gun culture that is popular in some american states.
It all needs stopping before it even starts.

I don't think the british legal system takes things as serious as needs be, sentencing can be way too lightly for bad crimes such as 11 year for murder!!! if it happens when the 'killer' is still young they have their whole life ahead of them..... or to reoffend!!! Whilst the poor family will be grieveing forever!
