Advantages: You can sometimes get a bargain
Disadvantages: mostly rubbish
Well I have done car boot sales before and I have'nt normally made much money because people want something for nothing. I had people arguing over paying a £1 for something it was stupid.
I only like to sell things that are in good condition, because I would'nt even look at a stool full of rubbish.
The last Car Boot Sale I did was months ago and I took my 8yr old son with me, we had to get up early and we left the house at 7am. We were starving we had no time for breakfast. When we got there we parked up and your trying to get your stuff out of your car and you've got people trying to look to see what you have got, that is the most annoying. Then once you've set your stall up everyone disappears.
Then your left waiting for customers. You always get kids that tread all over your stuff. Then of course you get the people that want something for nothing, even 50p's too much to pay.
We stayed there from 7:15am to 1pm and only made £45 not including £8 for the pitch.
Your thinking what a waist of time, well yeah, I will never do one again. I don't mind going to a boot sale because you can go when you want and just wander around for a little while.
Summary: I will only go to a car boot sale and not do one

- 11/10/05 I am sorry that you dont find doing car boot sales much fun, I actually love them and as a kid would spend many a day in the rain with my mum flogging stuff!! Mind you seeing as she is an antiques dealer she probably made a bit more profit.
Nice review, Vicky :-D |
