Advantages: easy way to make a few bob

Disadvantages: -

Alot of us now are probably looking to find ways to make and save some money, every penny helps in difficult times. One brilliant way of making that little bit of extra cash is by doing a car boot sale.

Car Booty's are usually held on Sunday mornings, bright and early. Times no doubt vary in different areas but I am concentrating on the one which is held near myself. The sellers - the people in the cars of course are allowed in at 6:30am, however the keen buyers are let in at 7am, giving the car booters the chance to set up their tables and get some of their goods out of the boot and display them how they like.

You can buy and sell near enough anything at bootsales such as Toys, Games, Electrical goods, clothes, babywear, nursery items, smellies, ornaments, the list goes on.

Eager and impatient bargain hunters almost pounce on you before you even manage to get your carboot open so always best to try get there early as possible to get as much of your junk out of your boot.

You know the saying "One mans junk is another mans treasure".

This is often the case when it comes to car boot sales. You could be in need of something in particular, maybe garden tools or even a new deoderant could even be that snazzy table you've been wanting for your living room, but everything seems so pricey in high street stores right, but you could be browsing at peoples boots and *result* you've found that perfect garden tool, body spray or table. Of course it doesn't always happen this way and some weeks you will literally just find junk.

It can be quite surprising what people will sell, but everybody has different tastes and needs, but if you find somebody selling something that you believe is too shockingly good to sell at a bootsale, don't tell them - YOU grab it. As cruel as it sounds, it could be perfect for yourself or you could make a profit from it.

So if you are looking to make a bit of extra cash for whatever the reason, have a good clearout, do you have any dusty books that you may have read many years ago? Them manky shoes that gave you blisters on that night out? The silly pink lampshade that really does not match your brown and gold bedroom? Chuck it all in your boot.

So if you are planning on doing a bootsale remember you need a car - hence the name Car Boot Sale!

Take spare change and possibly a 5 pound and 10 pound note to start you off. Try keep it one of them bags that go around your waist to keep it safe.

Plenty of carrier bags are a must, people will not want to cart their secondhand goods around on their backs you know.

Try keep everything you are selling in front of you or at least in your view anyway, as there is the chance of somebody being an extreme cheapskate and trying to steal. Also if you have things on the car behind you you may not sell it as people will assume it's been sold and thats why it's not sitting proudly on your tabled display in front of you.

So sellers have fun earning those extra pennies!!

As for you buyers, Grab A Bargain !!!

I love car boot sales, though being temporarily long-term disabled I tend to use eBay these days, but look forward to going back to the car booties eventually!
