Advantages: Clears out your room/house whilst making you some money

Disadvantages: Early morning starts and people who are tight!

The time came where I was buying too much and not getting rid of anything in my room, I am also saving to move out so what better thing to do than to do a car boot sale!

I searched high and low for things to add to the sale and before I knew it I had quite a lot of bits, some were naf some were decent bits but what I don't want others would. The loft was searched, my room was turned upside down for DVDs, cds, video, old jewellery, soft toys, handbags and much more.
We decided to go to the largest boot sale in Boreham, Essex gets lots of people sell and walk through to buy. We got their at the crack of dawn, 6.30am and half the field was already taken up by sellers! It cost £12.00 for sellers to have their pitch and £1.00 for buyers so aslong as you break even on that then your onto a winner! Your directed where to park by the stewards and you use as much room as you need.

As you arrive you often get the people who buy to sell on floating around and wont often let you set up properly before you get things out of your boot, don't let them put you off, you must be firm and let them have a look when you have set up or if you are happy for them to look don't let them have a bargain as you have hours of selling yet, they will often ask you for jewellery, as I was pulling into park I had 3 gentleman ask if I had any gold jewellery!
We set up on a decorating pasting board and then we just had a tarpuling laid out next to it for other bits.
Make sure you have some change to start you off, pound coins, 50ps and 20p coins and take a chair and a book or newspaper to keep you occupied as the first couple of hours can be slow until people start getting out of bed!
Try to keep the price you want something at for at least the first few hours as its not just that person that wants to take you down on the price that wants that item!
Another tip, you may not realise how much something is worth, I do a fair bit on EBay, have a search on there, one to see if it is selling on there and how much for to guide you on your price and 2, it maybe worth saving it to sell on eBay....
Another tip if your going to make some money rather than just get rid of stuff and the money is a bonus don't go round buying things off of other people's stalls!!!
We didn't do too bad, the 6 hours went surprisingly quickly it started to die down at about midday and we packed up at half past and came home with a few bits that I will now be trying on EBay and I made back the change I took, and the entrance fee and more so I was happy with that considering the majority of the stuff was just collecting dust!!

Summary: What to make some money? This is a fun, easy way to do so
