Advantages: Make money
Disadvantages: Cold, People offering really low and all the packing and unpacking
My parents have been doing car boots my entire life but I went to my first ever car boot to sell when I was 5.
Websites like Amazon Marketplace and Ebay have not been around my entire life and therefore selling at a car boot was the perfect way to make money. I love car boots and that is because you can sell all of your unwanted things and people can haggle so you can get a fair price. Car Boots are excellent for getting rid of anything I did a car boot last Sunday and we make £215 on just things lying around our house.
I wouldn't reccommend going to a car boot unless you have quite a lot to sell as it costs to have a stall and the petrol is a waste or time. I reccommend waiting until you have enough stuff for it to be worth while going. Personally we do 6 a year 1 ever 2 months usually unless we particularly need a little bit of money for something like a the minute for my holiday at the end of July.
There are many problems with car boots. One very annoying thig about car boots is when for example I was selling a phone worth £50 (I eventually sold it for £45) and one man offered me £5 which is ridiculous. Plus right at the start of the day its dealers who try to get as little as possible for things. If you are not a morning person I would not reccommend car boots because you have to be there for around 7.30 and so you have to get up at 6am if not earlier.
I have always found doing car boots that even in summer it is still cold because you are just sat in the same spot all day and if you are near it breeze it can be very annoying. Packing is not the worse bit and neither is unpacking the worst part is at the end of the day you have to pack up your things again and then when you get home unpack them again and there always seems to be more on the way home even though you know there isn't.
Unfortunately when reading this review you will think the disadvantages outweight the advantages however making a little bit of money is the main advantage anyway so I would reccommend to anybody with a fair amount of stuff your unwanted items are somebody elses wanted items. My advice would be don't set items to high or people just walk off and when people say I only have so much don't always believe them because the are usually lying.
Summary: Car boots only good if you are patient and a morning person

- 16/09/09 Hi Victoria
Just to note on you other dealers. I found I had to lock the doors of our car as soon as we arrived. The crafty people were almost unloading as we came to a halt and offering up to a pound for stuff that went for thirty. Crazy Bunch!

- 20/06/09 I'm looking to offload my electric guitar, it's worth at least £300, but I wanna sell it for about £100. We're going to a bootsale on Thursday I believe, I'm pretty sure I'll get offers of a fiver for that. Don't think it'll sell though. My nan has done bootsales as far back as I can remember selling plants, she barely does them now as she's disabled. Brill review. Kirsty x |

- 20/06/09 I sold over half what I took last time so was really pleased, am hoping to do another at the end of summer to get rid of the rest and other things I have since found around the house! Rebecca Xx |
