Having never hired a car before I scoured the internet, and local car hire companies in my local area for the best deal. My partner has hired cars and vans previously, but this time it was up to me to find the vehicle that we needed. We needed to hire a 7-seater car that we could use to take me, my partner, my mum, two brothers and nephew to the Yorkshire coast for a weekend away. Reserved a car with carjet for January 2009. Upon arrival in Malaga the local agent, SOL-MAR, refused me car hire as they don't rent to anyone under 25. My carjet paperwork said that the minimum age as 21, so as I'm 24 I didn't expect any problems. Emailed carjet several times, each time receiving the automated responce saying they will look into my complaint. So far I haven't had a reply. Ended up having to pay a great deal more with a local company, who incedently were very friendly and helpful!! (Autolidos). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I used them for a car rental in Spain and had a really bad experience. I had a tyre blow out fifteen minutes into my journey. There was no spare tyre on the vehicle, just a 'glue repair kit' which not surprisingly didnt work. I had to wait 4 1/2 hours with my family by the roadside for assistance (tow truck). I then had to wait for two days (with no car) for a new tyre to be fitted and had to pay Euros 210 as the standard insurance does not include tyres ! There is no service back up with this company - you have to sort everything out (in spanish) for yourself. Hi After reading a number of reviews I thought I would just post to say I found a company about a year ago and have been using them every since, mainly in Alicante and Murcia Airports. With hirecarsinspain.com (using Econorent) you can return the car full of fuel and because they are in the public car park rather than the arrivals hall I have never had to wait more than 5/10 minutes for my car. During the past six years I have hired a car in Spain for various amounts of time, varying from a week upto 15 weeks. I always book over the phone with VALUE CARS from Raunds in Northamptonshire. They deal with car hire all over the world and I must say they are very efficient and deal with the best hire firms. You can use the internet but I prefer speaking to the very helpful staff who will find exactly what you are looking for.
