Caravaning discussionNewest Review: ... would be out of the car and down the park situated on site. We would have a whale of a time. The site we stayed on had a swimming pool and a club house, park and shop. So if you didn't want to leave the site there was still plenty to keep you entertained. Not that we ever stayed on the site. My dad used to love planning the days out. gorgeous walks along the costal paths or long summer ... more |

There is nothing and I mean nothing as divine in the world as the smell of bacon, wafting from the caravans, in the morning as you walk from the shower blocks back to your caravan. There is simply nothing like it in the whole world. Caravanning is a great thing to do as a family. some of the best holidays I have had have been in a caravan. When I was 9, my mum and dad bought a tourer. I can still remember to this day the excitement of going away on these holidays. Every year we went to Cornwall. We would pull onto the site and be given our pitch. Then we would all wait with baited breath hoping that the pitch they gave us would be sea view. Even before my dad ... Read the complete review

I definately agree with the comment stating that it is not the caravans which are the nuisance but infact the person behind the wheel who cannot tow the caravan properly. The caravan itself causes no problems on the road but if I person does not know how to tow safely and effectively, then yes there is a problem. This however cannot be blamed on the caravan. Afterall the person who owns it has the responsibility of ensuring that it is safe at all times. Especially on motorways, hence the requirement to ensure that it is secured properly. I personally have never had a caravan holiday. I don't recall ever being in a caravan! I do however, believe it's each ... Read the complete review

I've not spent a lot of my time thinking about caravans but I have never rated them very highly. When I was engaged to my husband we were having trouble deciding on a honeymoon destination and because of the cost of the wedding the honeymoon was going to have to be on a budget. He suggested we borrow his Mum's caravan and go to Scarborough! Lets just say that I made sure he knew that particular scenario was never going to happen! Four years and two children later my husband ... Read the complete review

After years of holidays in the sun, with no driving to get there, just a speedy journey on the big metal bird, with good food cooked for you by a talented chef, as much booze as your alcohol ridden stomach can handle, 2 children came along and the 5 star holidays were no longer practical or affordable, so we decided to spend our money on a caravan instead.Great, we thought, instead of spending £2000 on a holiday to spain for a week, we'll spend it on a caravan instead and we can go on holiday whenever we want to. Of course we were novices so we bought a used caravan to begin with to see if we liked it and if it was easy to tow.We were lucky in the fact that we had a ... Read the complete review

CARAVANNING - an experience I am writing this review based on my own experiences, perhaps it is somewhat biased, but hopefully it will give you all something to think about. Are caravans a nuisance on the roads? Well, they are if you are behind one on a narrow road and they are traveling at a snail’s pace, but remember courtesy on the roads! There is enough road rage with or without caravans!!! As for taxing them, I have mixed views on this. Perhaps they should be taxed, they do take up space and cause wear and tear on the roads, but I am not really in favour of taxing them. Anyway, read on and hopefully you will have a broader view of ... Read the complete review
