I think the reason why celebrity death affects us is simply down to the fact we are used to seeing them in the public eye, we read about them, hear people talking about them and with many celebs now choosing to live their lives on camera, it seems strange when they are not there any more.
It doesn't affect me in a way that a family members death would affect me, but as for instance Jade Goodys illness and death was so publisised we knew from the start she had one hell of a battle on her hands..... sadly of course one battle she couldn't win. She was in the press nearly everyday, she helped so many girls and women who would have never have gone for *that* test if she hadn't spoken about her own illness.
Michael Jacksons death is another that so many people were affected by simply because he was a big star and many people loved his music and supported him through tough times.
I think it all falls down to the fact that there are people we have grown with and we relate to them in a way that is different to people who we do actually know!
It's always going to be a sad thing and the thought of dying absolutly petrifies me but it's something that can't be stopped.
We get so used to seeing celebs, it's like somethings missing when they are no longer there.
Another reason I think they affect us is because we tend to look into a celeb death more than the man up the road's death, because the information is readily there are your fingertips. You can find out the latest updates, what else has been found out etc.......
Summary: sad buut true, thats life..............you win some, you loose some.

- 29/10/09 This is a fab review :) I'm having my 2nd of 3 cervical cancer jabs soon and I'm dreading it because the last one was so painful but I know that it will hopefully be worth it after hearing Jade's story xx |
