-Introduction- The UEFA Champions League is Europe's premier cup competition and has been so ever since its creation in the 1992/93 season. It replaced the European Cup, a tournament with such a rich history behind it. The change is said to have taken place, in order to modernise the tournament and the inclusion of a group phase was welcomed.
