Cheryl Cole first burst on the scene back in 2002 after winning a place as part of Girls Aloud on ITV1 reality show 'Popstars: The Rivals'.
AS A GIRLS ALOUD MEMBER:
Their debut single 'Sound of the Underground' topped the charts not long after winning, they went on to release their debut album 'Sound of the Underground' in May 2003 debuting at #2. After their successful debut they went on to release another 4 studio albums; 'What Will The Neighbours Say?', 'Chemistry', 'Tangled Up' and 'Out of Control'. In support of their album releases the band released 21 singles and embarked on 5 concert tours. Girls Aloud have been considered as the biggest girl band in the UK and the most successful girl band coming from a reality TV show. They went on a break in 2008 but are reportedly making a comeback in 2012 to celebrate 10 years.
AS A SOLO ARTIST:
Cheryl Cole replaced Sharon Osbourne as a judge on the X Factor in 2008, and during her second season of being a judge in 2009 performed her debut aingle 'Fight For This Love' it ended up being one of the fastest selling singles of 2009 and scored her first number one hit. The following week Cheryl released her debut aolo album '3 Words' which was very successful. She went on to release another 2 singles to support the album: '3 Words' featuring will.i.am and fan favourite off the album 'Parachute'. In 2010 she released her 2nd studio album 'Messy Little Raindrops' which featured the 2 singles 'Promise This' and 'The Flood'. The album was another success making it Cheryl's second number one solo album. In 2011 Cheryl was confirmed to be a judge on The X Factor USA but was axed a few weeks into her role. In 2012 she performed her new single 'Call My Name' on the Voice, her 3rd album 'A Million Lights' which will no doubt be successful.
Personally, I think Cheryl Cole is a brilliant and talented lady who will have her career in music for many years to come. She is a perfect rags to riches story from growing up on a council estate always getting into trouble to a pop princess. I have a lot of respect for Miss Cole.
This Geordie- Princess was a pop rival contestant and then became part of Girls Aloud and then becoming one of the top British band, but for one member she had the most attention in the press compared to the other members, from her relationship with footballer Ashley Cole to X factor judge.
All this attention on her started after she was dating Ashley Cole whom she married in July 2006, then divorced earlier this year.
In February 2007 sugar issue she mentioned if 'Ashley had cheated on her she'd die.' but then a year later, guess what? HE CHEATED ON HER. She then forgave him, I thought she was a bit crazy saying last year she die, and a year later acted like it never happen.
However it didn't get better after he caught again, cheating and Cheryl planning to start a family with him. I was "Cheryl, you crazy? He's cheated on you why would you want to start a family with a player? not an excellent choice for a dad eh?"
So at times, she is just like an ordinary school, a girl takes the boy back even if they know that he is a player, as she is worried she will never find anyone else
Then she became an X factor judge, I do like her as a judge but I much preferred Sharon to be honest, cause Cheryl ha only been in the music for about 7-8 years whereas Sharon was in the music business before she married Ozzy. Sharon back please?
After she came an x factor judge, she released an album named three words and her single 'fight for this love' came a huge number. Was she doing this for Ashley? or just for more credit? even though there had been rumors that Girls aloud were spiting up. Even though I don't think she is the best singer, but her songs are good.
so should we love her or hate her? Your opinion is different. But she is too overrated?
I don't know what it is but I can never truly ,make my mind up about Cheryl Cole.
Ok so there is no denying that she is beautiful, has a wardrobe to die for, and a wage we could only dream of earning.
But why is it? What is so special about her, that I can't see?
Her singing voice isn't anything special, and despite having two consecutive winning acts on the X-Factor, her judging skills are hardly admirable.
From " Aww you're a little pop star" to " My dad always told me, Get on my son."
I Can't help but be annoyed by the beauty. She refuses to comment to reporters on her marriage, and Ashley's alleged affair, yet draws in attention by not wearing their wedding ring.
I Loved her as part of Girls Aloud, but as a soloist, her vocals aren't strong enough.
She seems to be conquering the world, so let's wait and see what she'll do next?
With feminist ripping their hair out over the obscenity and contradiction that is Jordan, they say a role model for women that can have it all but also a woman that refuses to believe it's her male plastic surgeon who has made her millions and she has no talent, thank goodness for Cheryl Cole, a feminine treat on our TVs at last. The Fay Weldon's and Germaine Greer's of the world love a woman that can make her own money and doesn't rely on a man, but Jordan's torture on I'm a Celebrity is the death of feminism for me. Please don't get false boobies and new lips like Shazza, Chezza!
Cheryl Cole, of course, is everything Jordan isn't. She pretty, sexy, has the footballer boyfriend and the perfect size zero figure most young modern working-class girls long for, that feminism in reverse gear these days with the young ones it should be in 5th gear with, the kids learning from their moms that record divorce rates means you just cant have it all (apart from your husbands house and all his money of course!). There's no need for brains when you look like Cheryl, her appeal that she really is the girl next door made good. Move over Posh Spice there's a new warbling clotheshorse in town!
In a recent survey a major chunk of young girls said they would rather be famous like Cheryl or Britney than be a doctor or lawyer, perhaps a gentle hint to why we need a huge immigrant workforce in all disciplines in the 'noughties'. Our kids don't seem to want to get their hands dirty anymore, and the thing that advanced feminism the most, the desktop computer (big salaries for no physical work where looks boost your salary), is now no longer sexy. Young cute girls want a readymade lifestyle and cute rich boyfriends have to accessorise it, and a toy dog under their arms like Paris has to compliment it is a must.
Cheryl wasn't always gorgeous and famous but always one of those girls that had enough looks and curves to get where she wanted to go and would always be the prettiest girl at the party. When she was Cheryl Tweedy and Girls Aloud she was always in the background waiting for her big chance, just like the pretty girl they find from the audience on Top Gear to put behind Richard Hammonds shoulder or the ones on Top of the Pops that stood behind Jimmy Seville and waved at the camera to add a bit of glamour on the show. But now Cheryl Tweedy is the finished article called Cheryl Cole, the gorgeous star who will get to do the lap in the reasonably priced car with Jeremy Clarkson and, of course, got to sing on Top of the Pops.
Cheryl's appeal to impressionable young girls is her transference from plain duckling to beautiful princess. The only flaw is that accent, sounding like she learnt to speak Geordie with a professional vocal coach it's that exaggerated, perhaps seeing a gap in the market for a cheeky northern lass on the circuit. I can't recall many famous Geordie females that were under twenty stone. Sadly the linguist didn't teach her to sing at the same time. But that sharp Newcastle tongue fades into the background when you stare into her stunning auburn brown eyes, more than a hint of Hispanic about her. I don't fancy Cheryl but I can see why some guys do.
Cheryl the racist...?
But Cheryl Cole didn't always have that ubiquitous appeal, her Girls Aloud triumph on Popstars quickly tarnished when she allegedly racially abused one of those black toilet attendants you get in night clubs and bars these days, their job just as uncomfortable for them as it is for me to see them do a job straight from 1960s Deep South of America. These girls and guys get racist stick every night from drunk Brits but Cheryl-then Cheryl Tweedy- was famous enough for this to go to court.
Tweedy and a friend visited the toilets in a North London club together and began arguing with 39-year-old attendant Sophie Amogbokpa about paying for sweets left for customers by the sinks. Miss Tweedy allegedly lunged at Miss Amogbokpa, screaming: 'You ****ing ***** bitch. I'll deal with you.' The singer is alleged to have then punched Miss Amogbokpa, knocking off her glasses and causing her severe bruising with another barrage of racil obscenity including: 'Bring that Caribbean 'n' word here.'. Miss Amogbokpa, a law student and "church-goer" who earns £25 a night at the club to help pay for her college course, pressed charges. This was not the image Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell wanted to portray of their carefully crafted 'girl next door' girl band. It was supposed to be less in your face zigger zagger and more soulful and party time tunes for office girls having fun at the weekends.
SO how do you keep your pop career going after that? Well cynics would say you would marry a famous black Premier League star who is also persona non gratis around certain parts of North London, Ashley Cole the lucky recipetent. By now Cheryls make over was so good even Ashley was unware he was marrying the eqivlent to Nick Griffins main squeeze. Its noticeable many black footballers seem to feel more comfortable dating and marrying pretty and braindead white working-class girls than any other ethnicity, Ashley no different, such are the pressure of society for footballers to meet the cliches. But now that Cheryl is a bigger star than her husband its invitible divorce stories are hitting the press, the sexy Geordie not wearing her wedding ring on the X-Factor recently. I have seen this hundreds of times before with freinds and famous peple in the news that once the wife earns more salary and status than their husband the marriage decays and soon all but done. Once your woman doesn't look up to her man your done. Women need to be attracted to something macho or financial in their men to stay with them and the bigger salary and car is usaully it. That why strong women an dfeminist usaully marry whimps who will be house husbands. After Cheryls number one single and X-Factor fame she suddenly had enough money in her purse to buy what she wanted without asking her rich footballer. She has burried the racism so no longer needs to be with Ashley. I give them two more weeks.
Cheryls X- Factor....
Cheryl, of course recently had the audcacity to ask Simon if she could mime her new single on the X-Factor for the songs launch. Cheryl is a judge on a live talent show!! In the end she compromised and did an impression of Janet Jackson wearing Michaels underwear from that hidden compartment in his infamous Neverland Ranch bedroom, Cole miming half the song only. One suspects she went for the wrap-around mic and as many choregraphed dance moves as possible so she could avoid singing live. Still Robbie Williams made twenty billion having no talent so why not Chezza.
The X factor is great Tv because even the most intellectual and snobby will be drawn into it at some point, if just to watch it so to critisize working-class people for falling for it and all its contrivance. We all wanted to see those pratts 'Jedward' voted off and we all tuned in to see just that every week. That's exactly why Cowell has such a smug smile on his face. He makes great variety TV and squillions to go with. Its one of those rare programes where you dont have to like it or agree with it to be enthralled by it. Complaining that's its for idiots is just to obvious. It's a business and it makes a lot of money and those kids are fully aware of that when they enter.
To be fair Cheryl has been excellent token 'totty' on the show but still somewhat protected by Simon, giving her the middle seat on the judging panel. In that way she doesn't have the responsibility of the casting vote and what ever she says on the acts doesn't really matter. If Cheryl or Dani Minogue tells an act they cant sing or dance irnony is not the word. Danni looked seriously stressed waiting for her sneaky message to come through on whether to vote 'Jedward' off with the casting vote or not this week. Its pretty clear the panel know who will lose on the dealock vote from info passed through their earpieces and so maybe why Cheryl has been kept away from that drama. Danni kept appealing to Cowell with a variety or paniced looks to know what to do with a vote that could end all the interest in the show by dumping Jedward. Simon seemed to mouth something to her and suddenly she looked very relieved and puffed out her impressive chest and voted of the ridiculous twins. Have you noticed how surving contestant Danyl looks uncannily like Ashley Cole, and until the divorce stories recently broke she has been voting for him to stay. The question now is who will go first. Ashley or Danyl?
Keep reading for a superb free Cheryl Cole bonus.
Cheryl Cole has just released her first debut album titled '3 Words'. It includes the number one hit, which happened to be the fastest selling download of all time (apparently) 'Fight For This Love'. The album has 11 tracks on it. One of which is a collaboration with Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am.
Whether you love her or loathe her, you'll love the link that's coming at the end of this review...
There's a website where you can download legitimate free music thats Digital Media Restcriction free. For example, it downloads in Mp3 format meaning it can be played on pretty much everything. I'm not sure how long this will last but you can now get her new album, well all but the Will.I.Am track for some reason for free!
Everybody loves a freebie hey!
Yes...I know this wasn't a review and I dragged it out but I wanted you to share in my mothers joy. Not mine....as I don't think she can sing.
(Note I do not get anything for promoting this, I just stumbled across it!)
Cheryl Ann Cole (nee Tweedy) age 26 rocketed to stardom after winning the opportunity to form girl band Girl's Aloud on reality TV show Popstars - The Rivals back in the early noughties. She married footballer Ashley Cole in 2006, and as yet has no children.
Cheryl is now still a member of Girl's Aloud (just signed a 3 album contract with the record label), has a newly launched solo career, is a judge on X Factor, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charity, is a style icon, the new face of L'Oreal, and has reportedly signed a deal to write romantic novels too. She is absolutely beautiful and what you see (seems to be), is what you get. I believe, in my opinion that she is really genuine. The persona we see on our screens is just how she is in real life.
Since being in the public eye, Cheryl has been under much scrutiny. She hit a toilet attendant in a club and served 120 hours community service when found guilty of assault. Her husband has been featured in TWO kiss and tell stories in the Sun newspaper, and for a period she stopped wearing her ring. She is often slated for her inability to sing live, and her weight which is every decreasing.
You know what I say to all of that? Cheryl was voted FHM's sexiest woman of 2009. She has no need to worry about what Ashley is up to, he is a fool if he has been or is having extramarital relations. Her behaviour towards that toilet attendant was a long time ago, everyone makes mistakes. As for her being too skinny, if she put a pound on she would be referred to as overweight in the papers, she looks pretty healthy to me, and recently climbed a mountain, so it's not as though she is waif-like or ill. She looks great in fact. And, finally, her live performance on X Factor showed that she may not be the greatest singer in the world, but she is good - she sells albums, she can dance and perform and she looked conscientious and nervous, unlike Whitney, who performed on the same night - as one of the greatest singers of all time, and looked uninterested, sang when she felt like it and just walked around the stage howling - don't get me wrong I love Whitney, but Cheryl completely upstaged her.
Cheryl Cole makes me proud to be from the North, I think that when her image was made in to a Pop Art representing the Angel of the North they couldn't of been more right!
I think Cheryl Cole is a real role model. She seems such a genuine person and after everything that happened with her husband Ashley, she didn't do what most people do and have their marriage all over the papers (well it was there but not on her part).
She first came to our attention when she was on Pop Stars the Rivals. I was never a fan of the show but when their first song, Sound of the Undergound, came out, I was in love with the band. The more press they got mind you, I wasn't to sure about the other girls. Cheryl has always been the one that I have thought to be the idol.
Now she has launched her solo career and I think the song is great. She done her first live performance (though I am not sure it was live) on the X Factor. She got slated in the paper for her nerves showing etc etc. I wish people would give her a break, it was her first performance without her band mates and I thought she looked amazing.
She is a straight talking, lovable girl, wy cant people cut her some slack?
OK, so we all know the Mrs Cole isnt the best singer in the would, but I really respect the fact that she herself knows that, everyone who is familar with Girls Aloud knows this, but she still gets away with it and people love her. For me, Cheryl was introduced not through Girls Aloud, but through last years series of the X Factor where she was the one that was always guarenteed to cry the minute a sob story came on which meant that the British public all fell in love with her as she was labeled the kind and sweet one. Although, I have to say, in this years series, she has changed quite a bit and I have seen another side to Cheryl, up until the bootcamp stage of the competition she was the same person, then when she found out she would be mentoring the boys, she began to chance. In the eposide fimed at the 'judges houses' she was actually a bit rude and childish in my opinion. It was clear that this is not the category she wanted to be mentoring, but she actually made it really known which I thought was unfair to the contestants in her category....
All in all though, you still have to love her!
My opinion on Cheryl Cole changes quite frequently. She proves that she is a normal girl by the mistakes that she has made in the past, but is openly appreciative of the money she has due to the fortunate careers both herself and her husband have.
Before her fame
Cheryl Cole was born June 30th, 1983 at Newcastle upon Tyne and brought up in a town called Heaton. She comes from a family of five: herself, three brothers (Garry, Andrew and Joseph) and one sister (Gillian).
When Cheryl was nine, she enrolled in the Royal Ballet's summer school, beating 9,000 others to the placement. This however didn't cause Cheryl to leap to fame.
Whilst working as a waitress, Cheryl auditioned for the ITV programme Popstars: The Rivals in the hope that she could make her dreams come through. She was a firm favourite from her first audition when she wowed the judges with Have You Ever by S Club 7.
Cheryl is famous for being a vocalist in the girl group that was formed from the television show Popstars: The Rivals. She is in the band with fellow members Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts. She has been extremely successful with Girls Aloud, having 19 UK top ten singles and 1 solo, a collaboration with Will I am. That's quite impressive. They have probably been the biggest girl band since the Spice Girls.
The albums she has released with Girls Aloud are the following:
Sound of the Underground
What Will The Neighbours Say?
The Sound of Girls Aloud
Out of Control
Girls A Live
Girls Aloud have been hugely successful, surprisingly so as they are a manufactured group. I don't think many people gave them more than a year or two, but six years on and they are still going strong and have a huge fan base. I think their success is due to the fact they stick to the genre that they are good at which is pop. My favourite song remains their first single Sounds of the Underground. I love the upbeat sounds that they create.
Whilst filming the Girls Aloud show Passions of Girls Aloud taking street dancing lessons, Cheryl was selected to perform in Will I Am's music video for his single Heartbreaker. She also provided vocals on the single and it went on to climax in the charts at number 4. She seemed very shy when watching this, stating that she was embarrassed at watching herself dance like that. I loved this single and think that Cheryl could quite easily go on and have a successful solo career.
Cheryl has also appeared on television shows Gordon Ramsay's The F Word and Comic Relief Does The Apprentice and presented The Friday Night Project. She comes across extremely well on telly, very natural. You can see that she doesn't find it difficult.
Cheryl has it all. The voice and the looks. This year, she came seventh in FHM's 100 sexiest women. Her long, dark locks have all girls extremely jealous. I know I am! Any time you see her, whether it be in a magazine or on television she looks gorgeous.
Cheryl's career also entails a deal to be the front for the 2006 Coca-Cola Zero launch. This was rumoured to have made her £200,000. I'd have done it for £100,000.
Unfortunately Cheryl is married to a lying cheat, Ashley Cole, the England and Chelsea left back, who doesn't deserve someone like her. They married in July 2006 at Sopwell House in St Albans with the complete works, partially financed by OK magazine, after it supposedly going to be a quiet event. Although we are talking about a footballer and famous pop star so what was the likelihood of that happening. It was a very spectacular wedding and the photos were amazing. Cheryl looked absolutely stunning.
I really feel sorry for the pressures that she has been under since her husband's affair was announced so publicly. She has been continuously in the gossip magazines following the various kiss and tell tales told in the various tabloid newspapers.
I hope for her sake that her somewhat turbulent marriage improves and she is happy. It has been rumoured that they are going to start trying for a baby, however these plans have since been put on hold following her career taking a massive leap when joining the X Factor.
Cheryl has very strong views about the idea that she is a WAG and states strongly that she is not your typical one. She totally disagrees with girls who go out with footballers and survive on their money. I can say that I agree with her. I know girls that dream of marrying a footballer, not because of who they are, but the money that the earn. This is a disgrace in my opinion. I have a great deal of respect for Cheryl in this case as she had a career well before she started to date Ashley and goes out and spends her own money, rather than the ridiculous amount that he earns.
However, Ashley isn't the only one in their marriage that has had bad publicity. In 2003, Cheryl was involved in a disagreement when out with fellow Girls Aloud Member Nicola in Guildford nightclub The Drink. Following a trial, Cheryl was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, however cleared of using racially abusive language. She was subsequently punished to 120 hours of community service and instructed to pay £500 to the nightclub attendant whom it was alleged she attacked. Afterwards, she did come out and apologise and say publicly that she is lucky for the life and job that she has.
She has had various spats with other celebrities in the public domain. The most memorable is that with singer Charlotte Church. It began when Cheryl stated that Charlotte wasn't original and turned nasty when Cheryl commented that Charlotte's Walkers crisps advert was appropriate with her 'stuffing her face'. I didn't like Cheryl for a bit after this as I thought it was massively uncalled for.
Cheryl is has most recently joined the fifth series of the show the X Factor in June 2008, replacing judge Sharon Osbourne after she quit the previous year. Cheryl was given the under 25 girls group to mentor throughout the 2008 X Factor.
Whilst choosing the under 25 girls to go through in her category, she enlisted the help of fellow band mate Kimberley. They finally selected Diana Vickers, Laura White and Alexandra Burke. Cheryl won the 2008 X Factor with her act Alexandra. Maybe it was beginners luck or does she actually have a talent for finding future British acts.
Cheryl has definitely brought something fresh and new to the show following Sharon's departure. Personally, I think that her and Sharon would be a better combination with Simon and Louis than Danii, but that's just what I think. Her chemistry with Simon on the show makes for great viewing. I also like the fact that she isn't afraid to speak her mind to both Simon and Louis.
Overall, Cheryl has definitely grown on me. In my opinion, she has gone from being quite a common, spiteful young girl to a successful, role models for young girls today. This is proof that people can change for the good and learn from their mistakes. Who knows what's next for this young talented woman. I think this is only the beginning of what could be a massive career.
