Urban district of Derbyshire (12 miles south of Sheffield). PLACES OF INTEREST: 1.Chesterfield Parish Church, St Mary and All Saints (commonly known as the Crooked Spire, with beautiful views from the tower). Built between 1234 and 1400 ad, it is recommended in the Chesterfield Town Trail that the tour of this beautiful awe-inspiring building be taken alongside reading the Official Guide Book. Free entry to the Church, small charge (about £2.50 (adults), £1 (children) to go up the 228 ft tower, which leans 9ft from its true centre. Booking I booked on the Internet at www.travelodge.co.uk. This is very quick and easy. Some areas have lots of Travelodges, so its best to type in the postcode on the front page and a list of the nearest 5 Travelodges are given. Be careful, this is "as the crow flies" so check on a map the nearest really is the nearest by road. The room cost £30 per night, winter special rate. Breakfast not included. Finding the Travelodge Travelodge provide a very clear map in their directory (order one online) or you can print out from the site. In this case the Travelodge is located on the A61 north towards Sheffield, Chesterfield inner ring road on the ... Read the complete review

As a Forest fan I know quite a lot about Chesterfield as they knocked us out of the FA Cup a few years back but I just thought I'd write about how well Chesterfield are doing in the 3rd Division this season. Although only 8 games have gone, they currently lie top by 5 points and are flying high to be honest. I'm not sure if they have the squad to stay there by the end of the season but fair play to them, they've done well so far. I think Brighton will be their main rivals regarding a promotion place but who knows, good luck Chesterfield! ... Read the complete review

I have seen Chesterfield play on many occasions but i have to confess that i was on the other side of the pitch as an away supporter. I have seen many poor games in my life but nothing could have prepared me for the way Chesterfield "play". It was boirng predictable and totally not worth the money i paid for. Each time Chesterfield gain possesion of the ball they hoofed it up field in a desparate hope one of there team would win the ball or get a lucky head into the net. MOre often than not this tactic would fail miserably whihc ithink is the key reason fort here relegation. However unfortunatly this so called style to my utter discust seems to be workig in ... Chesterfield is a small North Derbyshire town, which 4 years ago was alight with FA Cup madness. Yes Chesterfield were the Blue Army that so nearly got to the FA Cup final but were robbed by David Ellery against Middlesborough at Old Trafford. So what of Chesterfield now, well there are one of the worst teams in the football league, and have just been relegated from Division 2. At this point I must stress I am a neutral, I don’t support them, I just live in Chesterfield but still get to 20+ matches a season. Recently they have been abysmal, with not one player being worthy of the league, apart from maybe David Reeves. Their style of play ... Read the complete review
