Advantages: We need to think fast before it's too late.
Disadvantages: -
We need to encourage homosexuality and the kind of simple rural life beloved of Malaysian Moslems or the American Amish. Or at least we shouldn't discourage rural life or homosexuality. The world's population was 2 billion in 1940 but will be 8 billion by 2050. Soon it will be wall to wall carparks and Walmarts from Washington to Wuzhong. This will be unsustainable. OVER-POPULATION > CLIMATE CHANGE > FLOODS, DROUGHTS, Wars, genocide, plagues and social collapse may lead to a great extinction. Floods! Only the top of St Pauls will appear above sea water. Glasgow tenements will be blown away in gales. The population of Bangladesh will arrive in Kent, having seen their homeland disappear. OVER-POPULATION > CLIMATE CHANGE > Of course, people like Dr Kissinger have already been thinking about global warming and over-population. No doubt there are labs in some rogue state that are developing diseases like Aids which can be used to target over-populated parts of the world. No doubt there are military planners plotting to get control of more than their fair share of the world's non-renewable resources. Where is the oil? Central Asia, Iraq, Saudi Arabia? Let's get our troops in there fast. God and nature have their way sorting things out, but God's creatures do have free will. We can have the President Bush strategy: 1. Oppose international agencies that promote family planning. 2. Grab the oil in Central Asia and Iraq. 3. Satisfy your greed by promoting the military-industrial complex. 4. Start a series of genocidal wars. Has God passed judgement on Bush? There have been unusual floods and droughts in the USA. Texas has been particularly badly hit. And Wall street is crashing? We don't have to have the Bush strategy. We can have a more Godly and natural way of keeping down the population: 1.
Christians and Moslems should promote homosexuality. 2. Bush and Blair and Duncan Smith should travel to the kampungs of Moslem Malaysia to study a world that is relatively free of motor cars and where people still manage to smile and be friendly. The world's leaders should then copy the best of rural Moslem life. Now, I know it's complicated. It will take time to persuade people to stop having so many children. But remember that religions have managed to adjust in the past. It used to be 'an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth'; it used to be 'burn witches'; it used to be 'don't eat Pork'; it used to be that only the Israelites were God's people; it used to be that the earth was flat. Most people's thinking has adjusted. Early Biblical thinking was all about producing as many children as possible; hence the occasional discouragement of homosexuality. Times have moved on, as even the Church of England has realised. Homosexuality! Homosexulity should not be compulsory and should not involve the sort of love-less promiscuity allegedly found in parts of Bush's USA. Now you doubters, listen to this: In the animal kingdom, bisexuality is the norm, and that helps to keep populations down. When there are too many little hedgehogs, the mummy hedgehogs have occasional fun with each other. And have you seen what the daddy giraffes do with each other when there are too many little giraffes? I'm talking about a little friendly hugging and nuzzling. Where should homosexuality be encouraged? China already has a tough policy on family size, but, its population will continue to rise frighteningly for many years to come. So, come on you Chinese leaders. Change your thinking. Russia? Russians should be mainly heterosexual as their population has dropped drastically due to alcoholism, Aids, drug
s, and general social collapse. The population of the Gulf States will double in the next 20 years. The Palestinians within Israel will soon outnumber the Israeli Jews. So Israel should be promoting homosexuality, among the Arabs, and heterosexuality among the Jews. There are too many Americans. Eminem should change his lyrics. The next president should be a lesbian. England should be more gay but Scotland should be more hetero. And what about the simple rural way of life? Can we manage without cars? Yes. A few people may have to use some kind of motorised transport; but most of us should learn to walk or use bikes. Can we manage without modern medicines? No. There is no reason for doing without antibiotics, so long as they are only used in severe cases. Can we manage without modern consumerism? Yes and no. Some modern products such as computers and fridges can have their uses; but we don't need to fill our lives with plastic gadgets. You can't halt progress? You can't do without planes? It's a question of moderation and balance. Some flights can be useful, but, if we like Spain so much, we should go and live there permanently. If we continue to mass produce children, then we will see them all washed away in some giant flood. 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs disappeared. Are we cleverer than them? - 06/08/02 Well you are making us think - which is excellent! I don't see that Christians can ever promote homosexuality - unless they make a few adjustments to the Bible - which is always possible, it's been done before.

- 27/07/02 maidmarion - If it is possible to cure homosexuals then this remedy should be researched more. If all gays could be cured then there would be no need to execute them. |
