Advantages: YOU MAKE LOTS OF NEW FRIENDS

Disadvantages: EMPTYING THE LOO - MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR HUSBAND TO DO IT

About nine years age my next door neibours bought a caravan and suggested we might do the same so that we could all go away together for weekends. My husband wasn't very keen, he said he wasn't sure if he wanted to tow a van. I didn't mention it again until several weeks later when I saw a small 10ft van for sale in our road, I thought I night persuade him as it was only small. He very reluctantly agreed, so I bought it. We got it home, it was quite old but in very good condition for the year, but after close inspection decided it was too small ( 2 berth ) We thought we might take my daughter and grandson with us occationally, so decided to sell it and get a 4 berth one instead. We never went out in the 10ft one, We had only paid £50 for it and managed to sell it for £55 - Not bad !!! Next we bought a "Baily Pagent " a nice van with 4 berths and toilet and shower all in one, the only problem with that was that if someone had a shower and left the floor wet, the next person to use the loo turned the floor to mud. Our friends next door and us decided to join "The Caravan Club " and our first rally with them was a weeks holiday at Butlins in Minehead, we took my grandson with us and all had a great time at a fraction of the cost of booking a chalet with Butlins direct, I can't remember how much we paid but I think it was about £200 for the week. Since then we have never looked back, in the summer we go away with the caravan club most weekends and have made lots of new friends. My favorite time of the year is New Years Eve, the caravan club puts on a fantastic party, with good entertainment, it usually costs us about "50 - £60 for 4 nights, this includes food and the entertainment. The best part is being able to fall back into your caravan at the end of the evening and not having to worry about getting home - no taxi fares.
3 Years ago we upgraded to a "Avondale Dart " It has an end bathroom with seperate shower, its a lovely van, the only drawback is that the outside storage area is very small. It was a real bargain, we paid £7000 for it when it was 1 year old, it came complete with a porch awning, a full awning, a aqua-roll, groundsheet, waste container, and wheel lock and anti snake bar.
If you are considering caravaning, I would suggest buying a cheap van at first to see if you like it, its not for everyone. If you do decide this is for you I would recommend joining the "caravan Club " it costs about £30 a year to join but you save money on site fees and its a great way to make friends. HAPPY CARAVANING

Summary: gets you out the house at weekends and you are bound to make new friends
