The much maligned Andy Cole (Andy Cole)
Member Name: mancsoulsister
Advantages: a quality striker Disadvantages: misses the odd sitter
Why oh why do so called United fans feel the need to slag off their best players. I would expect it from other supporters but not from my own. Opposing supporters need someone to chant at - always funny until they score a goal!! But the new breed of United supporter have so little loyalty it makes me sick. They are so used to winning that when things go wrong there is a torrent of abuse at the player they feel is responsible. Andy Cole, the Nevilles and Ryan Giggs are usually on the end of this sort of abuse. But take a look at the form sheet it speaks for itself. Andy Cole is an excellent player and has a consistent goal scoring record - he has been one of the top scorers in the premiership for the last few years without playing every game. His partnership with Dwight Yorke has proved successful and really brought the best out of him. Ok so he misses the odd sitter - but then most premiership players have 'off' days. He has produced some of the greatest finishes of recent years. (The goal that sealed the 1999 Premiership title springs to mind here.) He is sorely missed at a nation level - he is much more creative than Alan 'knock it down and kick' Shearer. He is deservedly one of the key figures in United's attack and I think he should stay there. He certainly deserves more respect from supporters for his consistency than he is currently given.
