Advantages: interesting, exciting, fun

Disadvantages: none

I have been collecting autographs for quite a while now and find it a very exciting and interesting hobby. Some may disagree and say it is very boring waiting on the places to write back but I actually find it fun writing to the addresses for autographs and thanking certain famous people for being so great etc.

I have so far received 2 autographs through the mail which is brilliant and it is so exciting to know they are authentic. Another way is not to write but to buy autogrpahs from dealers which I have done on one occasion and the photo was beautigful, just gorgeous.

You usually write to fanclubs or agencies when looking for autographs but I sometimes write to venues for singers or film sets for famous people. The good thing is on a filnm set if more than one person you like is there it saves postage.

I usually send my own pictures and SAE and an international reply coupon for abroad. The postage is not that bad considering you get something nice back.

Although this may sound very positive it is not always very easy and a success sometimes you will get letters sent back and have to write to different places more than once. To find out address places like stararchive.com are good to get addresses and see what has been a success.

If you do not want to get authentic autogrpahs or find out they don't write through the post instead of buying a real one you can buy a cheaper pre=print which is ok.

I keep a list of who I send to in my book which is easier to keep a note of. In the end you just keep the autogrpahs in a safe place and it can build up into a lovely collection.

Whenever I read an op on this hobby I always think 'Gonna start that, sounds good'.
However, I always end up forgetting, and then I'm ready with the 'Gonna start that, sounds good' thought the next time!!
One day I will get round to this ...

Lisa :)

Oh, and ditto on the more information needed thing

I collect autographs too & have done for years. I keep mine in A4 folders in clear pockets.

Your opinion is useful, but you could do with putting your opinion through the spellchecker in Word, as there are quite a few errors in there.

Could you not tell us who sent you the autographs? It is a fascinating subject but you expand on it very little. Let me know if you change your op
