Advantages: Can really benefit those who deserve it.

Disadvantages: Lines the pockets of the greedy.

Maybe there is a way to solve the problem of people claiming compensation for every cut, sore back, whiplash and so forth.
You can buy policies which compensate you for loss of limbs, eyesight etc.
Maybe if everybody was taxed a small amount each month then they would be covered for the unexpected.
I get so angry when I read about Joe Bloggs who worked in the police or for social services, oops they have experienced trauma,
there you go Joe Bloggs here's a million quid.
It's about time job contracts were drawn up to prevent any ridiculous claims like this.
For God's sake, it's obvious that you will see and deal with death, blood and gore and alike when you work for the police, firefighters and more.
If you can't cope with that then don't sign up for it.
I can respect those who claim for certain things like a problem at birth which could've been prevented.
At least the child will have some quality of life with the money received.
Something seriously has to be done to prevent people from receiving hundreds of thousands for the most silliest things.
We will be suing friends and family next......
I tripped over my mum's bag the other day...
maybe I can pocket a couple of thousand?
Doctors should be given protection to cover on the spot emergencies.
They should be able to save a life without the risk of being taken to court.
What would you prefer?
Your child is seriously hurt, one doctor is there who can save your child.
A)The doctor walks away through fear of making even the slightest error, your child dies.
B)The doctor saves your child's life, but your child is left slightly disabled.

I know which I would prefer...LIFE is priceless.

I further add in response to a comment on my opinion that only the really needy causes should be awarded larger sums to help improve their quality of life.
My anger is toward the false claims and the petty claimants who get awarded hundreds of
thousands for an injury that doesnt prevent them from living normally and continuing to work.

there are a lot of silly claims made today and that causes premiums to rise at the same time.

I dont say that everyone doesnt deserve compensation but we do need to clamp down on the whiplash claims and alike as a lot of these are false claims.
I would never believe somebody who had a severe injury as the one you describe whouldnt deserve compensation as they are one of the ones who truly need it.

Well written but I think that you are being too harsh. My husband worked with a chap who had his arm ripped of by in a machine. Although he is only in his 30's he will find it very difficult to find work. I think that it is right that he is compenstated for this but I do agree with what you are saying about doctors.
