Advantages: You find me one and I'll go and work for capita
Disadvantages: Too many - I'd be here all day
I'm putting this smack bang here, i know its NOT in the right category (so dont post and tell me, there isn't a slot for capita and this is the nearest to it!)
After being insulted today by someone in Capita's (the administrators acting on behalf of TfL) in response to a comment i put on my CV on the monster.co.uk website I have NO alternative but to make a coup and nail these scum suckers once and for all.
Given the arrogance of the faceless article that called me today and DEMANDED why I didn't want to be contacted by Capita for a job (i.e. one of 2 call centres in COVENTRY) here's the reasoning and logic, its not nice but there we are, published and be damned is what they say, don't they?
I’m posting this about CAPITA (the arch enemy of the London motorist) due to their horrific treatment of potential job candidates. I had SUCH a laugh today, I have put my CV onto monster.co.uk and ended up getting a phone call from some faceless individual from Capita acting in an pedantic and ‘authoritarian’ voice demanding why I had put a preface of comments containing companies that I didn’t want to be contacted by, one of which being Capita (evidently pi**ed them off immensely in order to pick the anonymous phone up to give me a call – I think I may have been offered a McJob if I hadn’t beat the bar stewards to it and told them where to go – London? But not by car!)
After explaining why, the guy simply put the phone down. That’s fine! So now I’m placing ALL of the comments about this company I have in a job log that I keep, so I can back track to see what applications are made, the net result if any and what further action needs to be undertaken and they’re right here for ALL to see, not just the 300 quid subscription paying a year ‘recruiters’ (read: REAL monsters)
Would I work for a company that holds such draconian policies? Not a chance in hell, they’re always recruiting as staff leave like rats from a sinking (and stinking) ship, and for a company that can’t take constructive criticism, well, this phone call had me rolling around laughing, jokes on you Capita and you’re one BIG joke if you think that every potential job candidate is stupid enough to be fooled by the flannel and rubbish that spits from the mouths of the recruitment agencies you employ to do your ‘dirty work’ because you have such a BAD reputation in the Coventry area and can’t recruit off your own backs for toffee and the same goes for all your other McJob contracts that do the endless rounds of the job pages in the Birmingham Mail and other local rags.
Monster really DOES bring out the WORST in companies touting for staff, cue and enter Capita stage right and swiftly dispatched by a well deserved Shepherds Crook off stage and into the stinking trash can outside where all the rubbish belongs.

JOB SEARCH FOR NOVEMBER
2/9/16 - COVENTRY EVENING TELEGRAPH. SEARCHED FOR WORK.
** Found position for CAPITA at Foleshill and Keresley Business Park, recruitment being done by Flex Recruitment, Lutterworth area. Registered and got call back next day, asked to undertake screening interview. Some rather ‘searching’ questions. Actually failed screening on basis of my personal financial circumstances, feel that the other questions were so close to the mark they bordered on employment and disability discrimination.
The four ‘screening questions’ (also touted by Blue Arrow incidentally at the time!)
1. Do you have Good IT Skills ?
2. Do you have Customer Service Experience (in any given capacity) ?
3. Do you or have you ever worked in the media or in journalism?
4. Do you have any CCJ’S or have ever been declared bankrupt?
I passed on 3, but failed on the matter of CCJ’s, debt is a fact of life and just because you have a debt issue does NOT make you an arch villain of the state, unlike Capita.. In fact, over 30,000 people declared themselves bankrupt this year in Q1 after the Christmas period, so what IS the issue here? People get into debt for lots of different reasons, I haven’t owned a credit card for 20 years, there are people who use them like hankies, forever passing them over the counter – running up tens of thousands of bills and then finding they can’t pay, one poor bloke committed suicide either last year or year before as shown on a TV programme, the companies let him have loans in EXCESS of 100,000 on a salary of just 15k, so I think Capita are being slightly ‘overkill’ especially from a money grabbing (call them the second poll tax if you will) company that has its greasy cigar stained hands in virtually every Government contract. Did you know they run/ran the TV Licensing centre ion Bristol (TAX) and they used to run the ill fated Working tax Credit from what I have been told, you know, the one that got shutdown due to internal FRAUD and abuse of the (non-existent) online application process. Anyway I’m digressing …
The ‘interview’ by phone lasted 1 minute and 12 seconds, is that a record? Although I daresay the life expectancy of a Capita employee is probably far less, just leave out the minute to define how quickly they work out what a complete s*ithole company they are about to work for, given their discriminatory conduct.
I have lodged a complaint with Employment Agency Inspectorate at DTI in Victoria Buildings, Room 4140, London, regarding the above discrimination screening.
Got response this is an EOC and not DTI issue, so letter has gone out to them.
No reply form EOC which suggests that what they’re telling the agencies to do (i.e. blindly follow their word as divine mantra) is so close to the borders of illegality it throws open some interesting questions.
Work for Capita? Rather take a job at 5.35 an hour, the National Minimum (Paupers) Wage in McDonald's serving Gherkins, oh sorry - I don’t mean the customers are Gherkins I mean those little green bits that everyone throws away … they ARE Gherkins - Aren’t they? Hmm.
A mate of mine went for an interview with good old Capita but failed, when he asked the agency why he didn’t get offered a position, the feedback was ‘poor eye contact’, he replied ‘what do you have to do STARE THEM TO DEATH?’ lol.
What a company of misfits, and they don’t even trust job candidates as when he went there on the day of the interview, a flunkey on the security desk said, ‘do you have a mobile phone Sir?’ He said, ’yes of course’, he was then ordered to hand it over as mobiles were ‘not permitted on Capita premises’ due to the bad publicity you see (as if they need any more) so he had to hand over the mobile for the duration just in case he took some ‘illicit photo’s’ of the shi*hole inside, it MUST be that bad if they frisk the job candidates.
Strip search anyone? Where’s my marigolds?!!!
Talk about a distrusting and paranoid organization - Capita – You couldn’t make it up could you? Probably the most disability and anti-job candidate organization in existence today, what a shower, avoid like the plague and at ALL costs.
Go here for a job and you deserve EVERYTHING you get, including the death threats and verbal abuse down the phone from irate victims of the viral congestion charge. I heard stories about 2 years ago of female members of staff leaving the place crying due to the verbal and threats entertained down the phone from irate motorists who have been stung by the big CC.
For creating it and giving this public purse pinching company the TfL contract – Red Ken needs the same punishment they gave Guido Fawkes in 1605, hanging, drawing and quartering and then the head mounting on London Bridge facing the Kent countryside, or in today’s terms mounted on some foreign death-trap continental truck like a teddy bear on the grille – riding round central London with a psychotic sat nav shouting LEFT, LEFT, LEEEEEFT. YOU HAVE ARRIVED MONSIEUR. (Repeated in 51 different languages for the benefit of illegal immigrant drivers! Or should that be Capita staff?)
On their web site they say 'Temporary recruitment
All of our temporary recruitment is managed by Blue Arrow, please call 0800 0288 359 or contact your local Blue Arrow branch.'
Oh no it bloody isn't they'll take any agency that will listen to them. Also recruiting for 'business centres' in Mumbai, India, no surprise there then that they're setting up offshore operations as they're more cost effective. Why pay a UK worker 15k a year when you can pay an indian 3k .. makes fiscal sense that - another greedy grasping company making money out of the misery of others, welfare state, tax credits (and over payments) TV License (we're the ONLY nation in Western Europe that has one!!) and of course the dreaded congestion charge, what a nice name, soon when the government decide to privatize all the motorway infrastructure i bet capita will be there with their hands out!
Have fun Capita, I’ll teach you b**tards to ring me up and insult my intelligence and integrity, and each further phone call will earn you a duplicate posting on TEN more sites - each time, so think before you pick the phone up.
Follow up: i've posted a suggestion for a Capita slot in the employment section as currently there isn't one, so if you're going to rate this as 'not useful' at least have the guts to post WHY you don't feel its useful rather that do it because you work for (!) or like capita. Thanks.
Summary: Venomous - Ruthless organization, no wonder they got the Tfl Contract ....

- 20/05/07 Hmm, ok fine, opinion noted. I take particular offence to a company that employs agencies to 'selectively discriminate' against a potential job candidate on the basis of either their previous work record (i.e. if I had been a journalist - wish!) or lack thereof to IT skills or indeed in the case of the Mcjob in question your prior financial cicumstances. Im even more offended when the arrogant individual slams the phone down on you when you tell them why!!
I don't need to do Capita any damage as the general consensus in Coventry (and further afield) is that it is an horrific company to work for, it used to do its own recruiting and got absolutely no where, now it HAS to rely on agencies to farm sites like fish4jobs and monster to trawl for potential job candidates.
Pe rhaps I should have re-written the last part to say 'Debt is a fact of life' as opposed to CCJ's in specific, everyone has debt regardless of your 'social standing' in life and for some, people end up in difficulty and some have major problems like houses reposessed (check out the yearly repo figures and also the cumulative total of those who self declare bankrupty each year in the UK), but I will agree on your point as regarding why they saw this as an issue. If it was a bank then yes, totally understandable FSA regulations state that anyone with adverse credit history cannot work in banking and finance, but for capita's purpose I suppose you could call them a bank as the collect money from the poor in obsequeous charges and penalties and make a lot of money out of them! |

- 20/05/07 Yes a bit of a rant and I don't think you have done Capita any damage whatsoever for that reason.hard. What is wrong with them calling you to ask you why you specified you don't want a job there? It would have been easier for them not to bother. Also I disagree that CCJ's are a fact of life and for some positions I can see it being a problem although not sure why for this one. |
