I have always loved conspiracy theories. I enjoy hearing the different interpretations of a subject because it makes me think. I like the idea that aliens exist and we have some on earth, kept under rapps by the US governent. However that doesnt mean i believe in them.
I think they are useful thought provoking material. I was confronted by someone who was 100% convinced thet the 9-11 terroist attaks where set up by the US government as an excuse for them to be able to invade Iraq and clamp down on terroism, along with reaping the financial gain from oil. I asked how this person knew for definate that it was true, they said "I saw it on the internet, a whole video about the evidence"...I laughed. I love, like folk tales, Conspiricy theories are passed on through groups of people and once one person believes, they want others to join their belief.
I think when taken lightly, conspiricys are harmless, its enjoyable to think that the government is keeping secrets and maby man never did get to the moon. Things like this also provoke reaserch, looking up information on the subject, trying to decide for yourself. This is another positive aspect of conspiricy, it makes you question your own beliefs and the world.

Overall I think consiracy theories are great for uncovering peoples oppinions and getting people to look at situations differently. They are a useful tool for discussion, hence the whole section on them. I think they are harmless when taken lightly and are more a gateway into reaching your own conclusion about situations.
