Before I begin this review I would like to say that this is my interpretation of the review title. It is in Speakers Corner and is therefore a discussion topic as I see it. I say this because I wrote a review in Speakers Category once and was rated NU by one of the guides who disagreed with my interpretation of the category because it wasn't the same as his although many others here had written in the same vein as I had and the Dooyoo staff were obviously happy with it as I wasn't told to change it.

Anyway if the powers that be at Dooyoo disagree with my interpretation of this category then I will remove or rewrite the review.

My take on conspiracy theories involves looking at the beauty and health industries, where I am convinced that there are a lot of lies peddled to invite us to buy their products.

Let me give you some examples of my thoughts.

Danone Yoghurt

The initial claims for this product were that it contained Bifidus Digestivum which would help all the good bacteria in your gut. The claims now are that it contains Bifidus Actiregularis which apparently does the same thing.
Now there have been scientific experiments done which prove that this product is unnecessary if you are eating a reasonably healthy diet but having said that it won't do you any harm.

The point I am trying to make is that products are being invented and then the marketing is put in place to convince us that we desperately need it to be healthy. To me this is just advertising at it's very worst as it preys on those people who don't understand and convinces them to spend their money on something they don't actually need.

Cellulite

This is another of my bugbears. We all get older and our skin changes - deal with it! Having said that I don't have an issue with people who try to make themselves look and feel better using whatever means they have available.

What annoys me is that someone decided to call the skin on our legs cellulite and then convince the more gullible amongst us that not only was this a bad thing (why?) but that they could make a product to get rid of it - at a price of course!

These are just a couple of examples but there are countless more of these sort of things where people are being conned into thinking that life would be so much better with a particular product when really it will make little difference except to the bank balance!

I must just remind you all that this is my personal opinion and is no way meant to insult anyone else although do feel free to comment if you would like to.

Not sure if I'd call them 'conspiracy theories' so much as 'hoaxes' or something, but yes, they are annoying.

Beau ty is definitely the industry most notorious for bogus science though. This lipstick will make you up to 60% more kissable!!!

The worst one I hate is Collagen. Not only is it supposed to smooth out wrinkles but apparently its in toothpaste as well. Can you imagine brushing your teeth with Collagen?!
