We need look no further to Iraq and the missing WMD to know conspiracy theories can be all too real, western governments needing to do what they have to do secure their future oil and gas needs, our "national interests", as the British government likes to call them. But as the body count rises in gas rich Central Asia it's certainly not in the interests of the people of the countries we invade, the preferred dictators we put in place that will sell us that oil cheap so we can continue living the way we do not desirable.
People that are only too keen to put people down as crackpots and idiots who entertain conspiracy theories, like the ones they label loonies who say '911' was a US backed 'black operation', only need look to history to know that cant be dismissed. If you mock those people then just tap in these two words into google: 'Operation Northwood', evidence enough everything is on the table when America want to invade sovereign territory. And please don't tell me you still think Dr Kelly, our foremost WMD expert, committed suicide. His cupboard was o full of skeletons he had to become another one quickly to take his secrets to the grave.
I personally don't believe Bushes oil mad cronies planned 911 but I do believe they knew something big was coming and so didn't bother to stop it, knowing they could blame Iraq and steam in there and bag the oil when it did happen, what they have done. On the day the US troops pulled back to barracks and officially handed back Iraq after eight years of occupation they held the Iraqi oil auctions in Baghdad, BP winning the huge Rumalia deal in the south and two US giants likely to win the second and third biggest deals in the north. BPs biggest ever oil exploration deal was also signed recently, that in Libya. But more about that later. I think the more astute of you have spotted a pattern forming.
BP`s exploration and production chief, Andy Inglis, said: "the deal gives BP "a presence in the Middle East working on the biggest Iraqi field...We are evry excited!"

Some intellectual types say people who entertain many conspiracy theories hold them as a mechanism to perhaps make the world seem more ordered than it obviously is, the need to feel someone is always in control so September 11 can't be capricious and so happen again. They need everything to have relevance and meaning, not be random acts of chaos. I would say there's some truth in that and can see why certain people need to blame the CIA for everything big. But facts also point to extensive Machiavellian CIA involvement around the world in trying to reshape countries to serve the US over the decades, the revolutions in the 70`s and 80s South and Central America text book CIA stuff, Chile a classic example of, the democratic leader removed by the US backed brutal Chilean military on September the 11th, 1973, too exploit all the mineral deals.. The United States military has had some presence in 82% of the world's countries since World War Two, the Americans invading one country, on average, every year since.
You have to have an open mind in life and believe anything is possible and humans are indeed capable of just about any nasty deed. Again, look at those history books to read all about it happening time after time. Great Britain is not beyond reproach since the war either, the SAS heavily involved in supporting Pol Pots regime in the 70s an example of. We are not all nice people so you can't discount any atrocity done by our own people on our own people. Why wouldn't they turn a blind eye on the Twin Towers attack if it meant reaping the huge benefits to come? '911' is the phone code for the emergency services. Talk about a sound bite to galvanise the nation against terrorism! Why pick September Eleven? The whole thing was too perfect.
If we come back to Libya and the recent release of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmet al-Megrahi, the only man accused and convicted over the Lockerbie bombing, a conspiracy lurks, one I believe in. We know this guy was a low level Libyan intelligence officer so suspicion by association. But some say he was put in the frame by the Americans as the CIA had solid evidence pointing to an Iran/Syrian operation behind the bombing,a straightforward revenge for the bizarre US Warship attack on an Iranain commerial airliner in the Gulf some years previous. At the time the US were backing Iran to put Saddam Hussein back in his cage and they didn't need Iran responsible for such an international atrocity. How times have changed.
Where it all went wrong was the bomb was put on at Malta airport, the only time al-Megrahi is placed at the crime scene, a shopkeeper witness claiming he sold the very clothes to al-Megrahi that ended up in the suitcase wrapped around the bomb. The problem was the witness had been a paid CIA informer for quite a time and had not come up with much of late to keep earning US dollars, meaning he, 'Tony Gauci', needed money. One significant reason for the appeal is that Gauci, who picked al-Megrahi out in a line-up, had looked at a magazine photograph of him just four days before he made the identification.
Puting the Libyan in his moms clothes shop in Valetta earnt him a nice documented pay day, believed to be a mind boggling $ 2.1 million dollars over six years. The second problem was the ambitious plan for the bomb to get to the Pan Am flight in London meant the device had to pass through two connecting airports, none of those detecting it. As one of those flights was delayed it blew up over Scotland, meaning evidence, evidince that would be dealt with by the Scottish justice system, an unforseen by all, was spread wide over Scotland. Something the Americans couldn't control. If it had blown up over the Atlantic then the plane and bodies were less likely to bare any evidence of who did it and how it happened so America blame who the hell they liked straightaway with little complication, as they did on 911, naing all 17 hijackers in less than 48 hours. We saw that with the recent Air France plane lost in the Southern Atlantic, the authorites still none the wiser what happened. But because the Scotts were now investigating, it meant a trail of hard evidnce and so a likely convcition of the bomber. The FBI soon swamped the crime scene and the investigation became contaminated, some suggesting the agents planted the incrimating fibres. Its believed that If al-Megrahi latest appeal was heard the original evidence could have been discredited and the Libyan freed to blab all. It was ,then, no surprise the FBI were recenty very outspoken over the libyans release. The CIA cant afford anymore bads news under a new man so prayed the Scotts would deny his releses on those compasionate grounds, just about everyone hoping that cancer would get him first, a prostrate cancer that wasa caught early and easy to treat.
A whiff that flight 103 was a possible target happened a few days before in the US Embassy in Moscow. A warning was put up on the board that Pan Am flights may be targets, specifically naming the Atlantic, London-NY route. Christmas flights are normally very busy back home to America at this time of the year-but not this one, half the plane empty when Americans in the know suddenly didn't board that particular flight.
Al-Magrhais recent release by the Scots is widely thought part of a deal to bring Libya and Gaddafi in from the cold so to secure huge oil and gas deals for GB, BP bagging that huge one I mentioned earlier. The scenes at Tripoli airport of his release were spun as Libyans celebrating a guilty man being released when it was the exact opposite, the general public there decent people like the ones that had the plane fall on them in Lockerbie.

Some conspiracies don't work for me whilst others I don't have any opinion on. I passed through the JFK Book Depository exhibit on Deley Plaza in Dallas and the shot was an easy one, barely 100ft, so no problem with one shooter for me, two shots a breeze. I also believe Princess Diana died in her youth the way many attractive care free women die-in a car crash because she wasn't wearing a seat belt and the driver was drunk, the most common sudden death cause of British women under 40. I don't believe the government had her whacked because she was hurting the land mine industry. No one important took that women seriously, but just wanted the photo opportunity.
Another conspiracy theory doing the rounds was about the death of the pretty news reader Jill Dando, recently regurgitated after the release of Barry Balsura because the evidence was deemed unsafe. I have always thought Dando was doing a little work on the side for MI6, it being common practice for reporters and politicians to be tapped up by the intelligence services early in their career if they are deemed to have access to important people. In fellow newsreader John Snows book he is very open in that he was nearly recruited in his early days with ITN as a foreign correspondent to work for British Intelligence, they offering 30 grand a year on top of his salary, matching it back then. Dando had access through her travel work and a breasty fragrant gal like her could easily schmooze info out of the Balkan politicians and movers and shakers at the Embassy parties after a days leisurely filming in her bikini top. One of the first American bombs to hit the old Yugoslavia took out their media tower, killing three journalists -journalists just like Jill. Why wouldn't the Serbs want to get even? Anything is possible in this disturbed world that needs chaos to maintain order.
Summary: We are as bad as we think

- 03/09/09 Excellent review. Scary stuff isn't it! I think we are all coming to realise that governments are the least trustworthy of 'institutions.' |

- 03/09/09 Excellent commentary. I enjoyed reading this. Very thought provoking. Who do we trust in todays society, certainly not our own goverments!!! |

- 02/09/09 I enjoyed reading that. There is a lot of stuff on youtube about lizard people of the illuminati being behind everything, and this just discredits conspiracy theories as it is too silly. But your review gives a realistic portrait of what is probably going on, and it educated me somewhat. |
