Credit Card FraudNewest Review: ... card details and had decided to go on a shopping spree courtesy of myself. The woman on the other end of the phone went through a list of transactions which had been taken out of my account over a period of about ten days. These transactions varied in price however until the episode with PC World had been relatively small amounts of between two and ten pounds a time. All of the transactions ... more |

I was at work recently when I received a call from card services who operate my online Egg Banking Account. Well to say I was surprised was a bit of an understatement. Mainly due to the fact that this is one of those cards which is used for strict emergencies only. For example if my trusty washing machine or tumble dryer were to finally give up the ghost I would stick these relatively large purchases on the old plastic. I spoke to an extremely nice person on the phone who apparently was from their dedicated credit card fraud department. I was amazed when she asked me if I had just applied to buy a new computer online from PC World twenty minutes prior to my receiving the ... Read the complete review

Like everyone I have heard of hole in the wall machines being marked so that they can copy your card and take money out. When I go to the hole in the wall I have checked that no one is looking at me typing in the pin number or looking over my shoulder. I have even looked at the machine to see if there is something there that should not be. Credit card fraud, myths and truths. If credit card fraud happens to you, it can be a nasty shock, almost a violation of your rights. The hassle to sort this mess out is now really up to you and can be stressful. MYTH 1 - The internet is dangerous - Don't use your card on there. This is actually not true. In fact, it is known to be one of the safest methods out there. The truth is that most stolen card details are taken from normal places, such as bad theft or card skimming or photographing. Then, these criminals use the card on the internet because if the shop realises it is a stolen card, you can't apprehend the thief. This ... Read the complete review

Credit card fraud is a growing crime in the UK - a recent report by Tesco Personal Finance has highlighted that 25% of British cardholders have had a card lost or stolen at some point, while another 14% have had their identity used fraudulently. That is an awful lot of people experiencing an awful lot of credit card fraud. I am writing this after recently experiencing credit card fraud myself, ironically on a Tesco Personal Finance credit card. I wanted to write this to highlight what you can do to reduce the chances of this happening to you...although I should point out that I am very careful with my card, so if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. Still, with ... Read the complete review
