Day by day we hear more and more bad news over the TV and radio, and the newspaper headlines just scream of disaster, gloom and doom. What is a normal person like me supposed to do in this time? In Manhattan they have had to add two extra zeros to the 'World Debt Clock' that ticks away in Times Square to show how much America proudly owes itself. It has just ticked up one quadrillion dollars, which, I believe, is one thousand trillion dollars. But they can't accumulate without speculating and that's why the debt is huge. The world economy may feel terrifying right now but it always gets better as that is the nature of economics. It's going to be a scary Monday morning but I'm confident the markets will be up by Friday. A few beers over the weekend will have steadied the 'bankers 'nerves. I am quite frankly horrified by the alarming turn of events that have occurred in the financial markets over the past few weeks. The speed at which the situation has deteriorated is mind numbing and it is fair to say that the degree of decay in the markets has shocked the more naive amongst us.
