Crewe F.C.Newest Review: ... know what is wrong with the Alex, but we never seem to win anything. sure, we've had promotions and all that, but I’ve only been to Wembley once, and I want to go to a cup final, with my club. We aren't very consistent either. How do you lose 6-1 to Coventry, and then earn a replay at goodison??? if we put a string of decent results together, we could easily challenge for the ... more |

I thought I would just talk about the terrific FA cup run we had this year. I have been a fan of the club for nearly 60 years, and I have seen a great deal of change, during that time. However, even I was not around to see our last decent cup run, in 1888! I don't know what is wrong with the Alex, but we never seem to win anything. sure, we've had promotions and all that, but I’ve only been to Wembley once, and I want to go to a cup final, with my club. We aren't very consistent either. Only survived relegation on the last day of last season, and will surely continue to be one of the strugglers in the division. That said, it is a real achievement for them to go into a fourth successive season at this level, while local rivals Port Vale and Stoke would pay big money to get up to this division. While the division is not getting any stronger, the standard is evening out so Dario Gradi will expect his 16th season at Alex to be another difficult campaign. However, they have proved good enough to shock the bigger clubs in recent seasons, with that win at Blackburn last term and at Ipswich two seasons ago proof that you can try to play attractive ... All the premiership teams talk about their youth policy and how good their training procedure is, but none of them can match the work that Dario Gradi has done down at Crewe Alexander, has been appointed manager since 1983 the longest serving manager in the whole league. These are some of the players that Crewe has brought up through their ranks: Craig Higgnet, Lee Jones, Danny Murphy, and David Platt. The only problems that have is they cannot keep these players on their books, but if a miracle happened and the likes of these top players had stayed at Gresty road Crewe would probably be in the premier division today. Crewe will always struggle in the ... Read the complete review

Crewe Alexandre. generally called Crewe - as that's easy to say - they've always been an under achieving side and really never ever give a good show to the fans - they are the Division 1's Derby County - always drawing but, instead of 3-3 , they manage to keep the scores a quiet 0-0. This will be the demise of Crewe this year as they have already only scored 2 goals -only 3 have been let in mind you. I predict that they will finish in the bottom half of the table - but will not get relegated. They will - In my view have a very good cup run, but that will fizzle out over time ... The problem for Crewe has always been that they will never get better if they keep selling their best players. However, they must do this to survive since pathetic attendance's of only 6,000 mean they cannot compete with other teams in the Nationwide where players such as Ian Wright may be earning more money than the entire Crewe side. Previously, players such as David Platt, Rob Jones, Geoff Thomas, and Bruce Grobblar have progressed from Crewe to bigger clubs, and recently, Seth Johnson and Danny Murphy have left for the Pemiership. The wealth of young talent must be accredited to Dario Gradi who tuns players not deemed good enough by other clubs into quality ... Read the complete review
