Venus holds the word record for the fastest serve in a WTA main draw tournament: 129 MPH (207 km/h) at the 2007 US Open (first round match). That is huge difference, measured against Davenport's fastest recorded serves, which are in the 110 - 115 range (2001 - 2005). ... more

Lindsay Davenport: some corrections... (265 words)

Interesting comments but there are some factual errors in the main article. Lindsay has an extremely accurate and very heavy (she used a good deal of spin) serve but it is not and never has been the "most powerful", both in terms of average 1st serve speed and highest recorded [fastest speeds. Justine Henin, for example, recorded higher average and highest speeds [124 MPH, at 2005 Charleston, somewhat faster than Davenport's fastest serves of the 2000s. Venus holds the word record for the fastest serve in a WTA main draw tournament: 129 MPH (207 km/h) at the 2007 US Open (first round match). Premium Review Potential Winner for Next Year (427 words)

Lindsay was unlucky to lose to eventual winner Venus Williams in the semi-finals of this years Wimbledon, taking the now twice winner to three sets. Along the route to the semi-finals she beat Jelena Dokic, Kim Clijsters and Patty Schneider, all with customary skill and coolness. For me Lindsay is one of the select few that is genuinely capable of lifting the Wimbledon title again next year, along with Martina Hinges, the Williams sisters, and Justine Henin. Lindsay Davenport was born in California USA on the 8th June 1976, and is currently residing in the same state. She is 6’2” tall and weighs 165lbs, so is one of the tallest girls on the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lindsay Davenport: Could have been champion (272 words)

I was quite surprised that Lindsay Davenport didn't play better against Venus Williams, she seemed to have no fight no hunger left in her, except in the tie-break in the second set. I really think she could have gone all the way. She said she would retire at the end of this tennis season to concentrate on having a family, if so it's a pity because she really has the qualities of a champion. She has a good serve, not as powerful as the Williams sisters but then again not many other women can reach their power level, but she can certainly compete with the best. She has an accurate serve and can play well, and show some delicate ...  Read the complete review
