Newest Review: ... cooked from my Mother’s and friends cook books and here’s the real beauty of Delia Smith, there is never a recipe of hers I’ve tried which has failed. They’re simple and some are inspiring enough that an experienced cook would find them interesting to cook or use as a basis for personalisation. Oh Delia, Delia, Delia. Never has there been a celebrity chef with so much power. It almost seems crazy how much power Delia has because, frankly she isn’t trendy. She’s never been a Jamie Oliver. Delia has been teaching us all how to cook for 25 years but she didn’t have the traditional route to becoming a food expert which is probably why so many people, especially chefs aren’t keen on her (although grudgingly admire her success). She left school at 16 but didn’t start working in a food capacity until she took a job washing up in a restaurant, I think it was called “The singing chef”. In the first season of the Premier League, Norwich City were one of the top teams with a great season culminating in a third place finish and European football. This was meant to be the point where the club pushed on. I often wonder where we would be now if at the time if we had the right people behind the scenes. Instead what happened was a quick descent into near oblivion with relegation a couple of seasons later and nine long seasons in the first division with many being depressing.
