We have players like Jermaine Defoe who is quality and obviously one for the future, and has been seen to pair up well with big Freddie Kanoute. Paolos rants and raves have been pathetic, especially his little performance at Fulham where he did not like the idea of coming off! The sooner we sell ... more

On his day he is class, but oh dear we only get to see his "day" every blue moon. The rest of the time he struts around like there is only him on the pitch. Premium Review Di Canio For England? You Could Do Worse, Sven! (706 words)

It is a little known fact, although perhaps one that may become more widely known if anything ever comes of it, that Paolo di Canio, a born and bred Italian, could be the answer to England's striker problems. Although he is surely nearer to the end of his career, at 33 years of age, his perfomances on the pitch have proven that he is still a world class player. However, crucially, Di Canio has never played international football, which may just give a glimmer of hope if Sven Goran Eriksson is prepared to take chance on him. I don’t think United was looking to sign Paulo until they surprisingly off-loaded the inconsistent striker. Di cannio is one of few replacements that I personally would have gone for due to restrictions by EUFA. I see him as a bench player though for Alex similar to the role Suker had last season for Arsenal. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The master that IS Di Canio (1227 words)

For added atmosphere whilst reading this opinion play La Donna E Mobile from Rigoletto by Verdi, and replace the lyrics with a simple chant of 'Paolo Di Canio.' It scans beautifully. "The man's a genius" - Harry Redknapp, ex-manager of West Ham United. "We don't want a player we can't control or who will be a problem in the dressing room" - Fergus McCann, ex-Celtic chairman. "He used to get kicked all over the place... I knew when he was going to explode." Guiseppe Materazzi, coach at Lazio. "A complete Nutter" - Ron Atkinson ex-Manager of Sheffield Wednesday. The last comment sums up exactly why this particular Italian ...  Read the complete review
