Disabled or Parent & Baby Parking Spaces Discussion

Disabled or Parent & Baby Parking Spaces

Newest Review: ... some people just don't understand why these spaces are so valuable to those with young children. There are two reasons why I always look for these spaces. The first and most important is that they are extra wide which is amazingly helpful when manoeuvring a child in and out a car. Newborn babies are often transferred in there car seats and therefore not only moving a small child but a car seat as well. I have heard it said that why not park away from the other cars but when I have done this there have been times when I have returned to the car and found another car parked closely next to mine. The second reason is more relevant with a y... more

As many know from my previous reviews I am the mother of a toddler who is quite a live wire to say the least and strangely gets very excited about shopping which I am sure will pass when he gets older. I am writing this review after a recent visit to Asda when I did manage to get the last parent and child spot but got out the car to see a man stood by his car door open smoking with no car seat inside. I found his selfish behaviour left me fuming. I think while people do understand the importance of Disabled parking and hopefully respect them however I genuinely believe that some people just don't understand why these spaces are so valuable to ...  Read the complete review

I am the mother of a 2 year old and a 6 month old baby and nothing makes me more annoyed than people parking in parent and baby parking spaces when they don't have a young child with them or in disabled spaces when there is clearly nothing wrong with them. I find it is both selfish and lazy, if I go shopping without my children I wouldn't dream of parking in a spot that is designed for people with special requirements. I find some people think it's ok to park in these spaces if they have a car seat but no child with them or if they have there teenager with them, its ridiculous. Some people find it's ok to park in these spaces if there in a hurry as the spaces ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Disabled or Parent & Baby Parking Spaces: Mother and Baby Parking Spots, It's not vanity or status, it ... (246 words)

I have to admit straight away, that I am not directly affected by mother and baby or disabled parking. My interest is only as a passenger observing the chaos that is special needs parking in supermarket carparks. It's something that you don't even think about as you go about your day to day business. For my daughter, who has a two year old and a six month old the mother and baby parking spots are crucial to her. It is a legal requirement now that all babies and toddelrs and young children must travel in specially designed car seats. The object of the seat is to keep the babies in place, as such, the system of straps and clasps would defeat the most determined ...  Read the complete review

I'm all for disabled places in supermarkets and town centres, who isn't, but having rows and rows of mums and tots spots I'm not so hot on and do wonder why mums get so het up when the places are full with drivers who may not have young kids. The thing is these places are perhaps ten feet nearer the supermarket from other available places and often in the most dangerous spots, cabbies and other parents picking up customers and family on that access road just outside the supermarket. Surely it's safer to keep the kids away from that road when you load up the shopping? Most of the time the huge supermarket car parks are fairly empty and you will see mums and ...  Read the complete review

My son is Autistic and also has Dyspraxic (which isalso known as clumsy child syndome ). Whilst this doesnt stop him physically walking from the back of the supermarket , it does make it difficult for him walking through traffic and other people to the store. This is especially tricky when we are on the way back with the trolley of shopping ,as i have to co-ordinate him and the trolley back to the car when we hve finished . The problem is people see him and myself parking in a disabled bay and think that these spaces are only for the older physically disabled which they are not . I have a disabled badge to use when he is with me and would never use ...  Read the complete review
