Corporation) SCI (Scuba Diving International) SSI (Scuba Schools International) While I refer to PADI, I urge you to check out the other organisations and decide for yourself which is best for you. I can't comment as I have no experience with these other groups. PADIs has a structure that will take you from a trial dive through to being a diving instructor (if you want to). I would assume ... more

Diving is an incredible experience. I have been lucky enough to dive all over the world, swimming with dolphins, sharks, turtles and other amazing creatures. With the proper training, it is a safe, enjoyable and unique. There are skills you need to master, making good instruction essential. You need an instructor who can pass on their experience and knowledge, who can correct your mistakes patiently, and who can make you enjoy this amazing pass-time. Finding a dive school that caters for you is very important. If you are ever made to feel like 'just another customer', let somewhere else have the privelege of teaching you. Which ...  Read the complete review

From the first day that I arrived, I had absolutely no intention of entering the sea or pool other than to escape the sun for a few hours. Little did I know how wrong I was. After a free trial in the hotel pool I haven't looked back. The truly exhilarating feeling of being under water and able to breath is something that you have to experience to appreciate. As soon as I was out of the pool; within five minutes I was signing up to do a four-day course. My friend and I had no idea of what fun we were about to have. The course itself cost approximately £180 all inclusive of kit hire and instruction etc, and the next morning we were in the indoor pool of the hotel ...  Read the complete review

What can I say except I LOVE IT! Scuba diving that is. I love the sport, I love what I see and I especially love the travel. Having just returned from my all time favorite spot in the world ( Cozumel) all I can say is that it feels like a religious experience. Scuba diving is the greathest thing next to God. I leanred to dive almost 4 years ago. I didn't want to learn at first but with my husband's prodding I did. That is when he whisked me off to my first trip to Cozumel and I got hooked. I took the NAUI class which is a little more extensive than the PADI class but I felt I learned a lot more too. Up front scuba diving ...  Read the complete review

I was fourteen years old, and my big brother had just got himself a new hobby - Learning to play the Guitar, in that common "I'll just hit it and that'll make me good" Teenage way. Well of course this meant in the interests of household harmony and sibling fairness, I too had to get a hobby. Whether I wanted to or not. After my suggestions of things like "Drums please!" or trying to convince my Mum that Nintendo IS a hobby and "it's to improve my hand-eye co-ordination" were turned down flat, the parental dictatorship in our house decreed that my hobby ...  Read the complete review

Beautiful coral and colourful fish spring to mind when you contemplate taking that awesome leap into the watery world of our offshore reefs. On many tropical and safari type holidays where you stay in a beach side resort you will be approached to try scuba diving. If you have the confidence to breath slowly and gently from an aqualung for anything up to half an hour, you could end up as my partner did; standing 60 metres under the sea on the sea bed surrounded by fabulous coral and colourful fish. This first experience was in the Dominican Republic; a very poor country economically but a very rich environment for natural unpolluted beauty, fruit ...  Read the complete review
