Advantages: Safe policing
Disadvantages: None
Do you have faith in your local police is a hard question to answer as you need to consider this from a number of views.
I would say that on the whole I have total faith in my local police. I think they seem to do a decent job and the only time I have needed to call them (someone was breaking into our car at night) and we had the police there within minutes.
As such my first immediate reaction is that I do have total faith in my local police.
However when thinking about this a little further, I have to think back on the above incident. There were fingerprints found our car and I believe they knew who did it and I think he was prosecuted, however we were never advised that he was. I would say on communication issues the local police could be improved to advise you when they catch the criminals.
Also I would say that is rare that you actually see a local policeman on the streets. It seems that usually you only see local community offices or special constables, who seem to do a good job, but don't have the power of the police to arrest, etc.
I would prefer to see a more old fashioned approach to policing with local police on the streets who know the community and can get involved. After all when I was brought up then you knew that if you had a problem you could go to a policeman and they would help you.
I think that overall our police do a good job and I trust them and think that they should get much more praise then they currently do.
Summary: Give the police more praise
