Advantages: security
Disadvantages: lack of contact sometimes
I have every faith in my local police.
I have had a few experiences with them, not always getting the result i want but that imo has nothing to do with the service i have received.
I've read through a few reviews on here and have found those that are negative have blamed the failings in the law on the law enforcers, which is unfair.
It seems to me that the police are in a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" situation. They don't have the power to change the law, which is obviously good - with no rules and no system in place, corruption would follow. Yet by doing their jobs and enforcing law, they can still be left in a situation where the law does not allow them to do the amount that people probably expect.
My experiences;
Having been a shop assistant for around 4 years of my life, most of my police interactions have been down to shoplifting.
Even if its just a bag of crisps, police have to take a statement & CCTV etc. Its minor, but from the companys perspective it has to be reported.
Twice i have had my mobile phone stolen - they were reported but realistically how likely is it that they will be caught? Un!
On a couple of occasions the police havent turned up or contacted me to let me know they wont be turning up which is annoying but all my interactions with my local police have been pleasant in general.
Sometimes its easy to judge the whole system on the few negative experiences, but they should also receive praise when it is due.
Summary: Good service providers

- 23/07/09 It's one of those professions where if they get it right, they're just doing their jobs and if they get it wrong, all hell breaks loose. They'll never be able to win! |
