Jelena was born on the 12th of April 1983 in Belgrade, Serbia. She is 5ft 8 in height and she weighs 125lbs so she is quite small. Jelena started playing tennis quite early tuning pro in 1998 when she was 16. She has wormed her way up the rankings quite quickly and she is ranked 16 in the world which is a big acheivement in a small amount of time. She has played in every grand slam so far but has done best on the grass courts of Wimbledon. She has got to the 3rd rounds of the Austrailian ans Frenah opens. Dokic burst on to the scene a few years ago at Wimbledon by beating the then favourite Martina Hingis. At the time she was only 16 (I think) and to be honest I thought that she was just another one win wonder and that she would fade in to obscurity. How wrong can you be!! If nothing else her 'interesting' father will ensure that she will always be in the press, but can she cut it as a tennis player? Despite all the criticism she may receive for one thing or another, she is ranked 16th in the world so she certainly can't be bad! And we must remember that she is only 18.
