Premium Review Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit: Why oh why, are they moving? (339 words)

I wrote this review on the basis of reading all the news about how donington may now not receive the F1 in 2010 because it has not renovated the circuit. I have been going to donington park to watch both cars and bikes since the age of about 2, im now nearly 20! And i have to say that although it has great history in both cars and bikes, it really is not a circuit geered up currently for that kind of revenue. The amount of crowds that this f1 would produce, is not something that i believe the circuit could handle. Problems ----------- Facilities - This is the first major problem. Premium Review A Day at the Park! (255 words)

Donington Park is a great circuit with a rich history, an exciting track (which makes full use of the local topography), fantastic links to the M1 and East Midlands Airport and a brilliant choice of spectator locations. However, the facilities, whilst adequate, may be accused by some of being a little, well, dated. But what a time it's been for Donington Park lately! As the news broke that Donington would host the British F1 Grand Prix from next year (2010), one of the first thoughts which sprang to mind with those familiar with the track was 'How'? Donington hosted the European Grand Prix in 1993, when Ayrton Senna gave one of his ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit: A little bit of Heaven (651 words)

Donington Park is heaven in a large green field - or at least that has always been my view of the magnificent former grand prix circuit situated on the edge fo Derbyshire and Leicestershire. I used to live roughly four miles from the circuit when I worked in the Midlands many years ago. It was then that I first discovered what a magical atmosphere Donington has - not just for motor races but as an outdoor venue for rock concerts and the like. The ability of a place like Donington to be versatile is what guarantees its future. Right next door to the circuit is the East Midlands International Airport - so it's handy if you generally fly into your ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A top motorsport venue (259 words)

Donington Park has always been a circuit of choice when faced with a choice of venues to go and see a particular racing series, and will continue to be the choice for sometime to come. In recent years, I havent been able to visit the track as often as I would have liked as we now live in Dorset, but Donington used to be my local circuit, and in the past I have been there to watch TOCA, Superbike, and rounds of both the British and global GT championships. The track has some spectacular viewing points, my favourite is the bottom of the hill looking up the Craner Curves, and with a perfect view of the Old Hairpin (where I saw Mansell leave the circuit at ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit: Donington Park (206 words)

I had the opportunity of going to the British Motor Cycle Grand Prix at Donington on July 9. I have only ever been to 2 other UK Motor Racing Circuits, Silverstone and Brands Hatch, and Donington compares favourably. Access from the Motorway network is excellent, signeage is easy to follow and Policing/Stewarding immediately around the circiut is efficient. Parking is easy and plentiful. Circuit access is good but once inside there in little if any signeage as to facilities available, locations of Grandstands, seating or viewing points, basically its a free for all, except for VIPs and additional cost Grandstands. Food opportunities are basic but fair ...  Read the complete review
