Advantages: express yourself, earn, make friends, learn
Disadvantages: It's addictive!
Considering this is my 100th review, and I've been a member only a little over a month, I think the best place for it is 'my dooyoo addiction'. They say the first step is overcoming your denial, and I did that very quickly. I make no apology for the fact that I spend a LOT of time devoted to this site.
Like a good movie, there are many layers to Dooyoo, and those are what keep me hooked in. I won't lie, I came to the site when I was scouring a forum on ways to make money. I've spent the last 18 months on a mission to clear my debts of £9000, and this site seemed the perfect way to help. Whilst my wife has been doing online surveys and the like, I knew Dooyoo was for me for a number of reasons.
To begin with, I'm an English teacher, so I spend all day teaching people how to write - why not use that knowledge for my own benefit? I make no claims to be a perfect writer, but I do know things like how to use a semi-colon correctly; they actually add a lot to a person's writing.
Secondly, I watch a lot of films and read a lot of books, so why not get some more value out of those?
Thirdly, I'm a creative person, and my current life doesn't allow me to express myself as fully as I would like. Dooyoo is an outlet for that.
So, that's layer one - getting paid to do something I like, and know I can do. I am glad to say my first Dooyoo cheque came this week, so it does pay out (phew).
Layer 2 is the rating system: it's addictive. When you see a photo of some random person pop up on your account it's almost impossible not to click it and have a gander at their reviews. The annoying thing is it seems impossible to rate more than you are rated, and I constantly try and catch up. It's a game you can't win, like playing spin the bottle with an ugly person, but it's somehow addictive.
Layer 3 is finding new products. It is addictive to use that search box, and at random times in the day and night I find myself thinking of some obscure item I once owned, and wanting to fire up the PC to see if it's there; more often than not it is!
Layer 4 is making new friends. It's weird, but I have genuinely made some mates (McPip I mean you). When you see a person who has review after review on something you love, you just know you're going to get on. Also, I began using members for their knowledge. Example: I read a lot of McPip's Hip Hop reviews. I had a Hip Hop question, I went to McPip: simple. The community aspect of things is really intriguing and has a lot to offer.
So there you have it, I am addicted to Dooyoo for 4 reasons!
Summary: Here's to the next 100!
