Background:

I only joined in late November 2008 but I know I am addicted to it. I had already been on another opinion site for about a year. But I had always thought I would not join Dooyoo, only because I thought I would rather do one site well than two only moderately. In the end once Carcraig told me to give it ago I joined, so I may blame my addition on her!! Or more likely thank her for introducing me to Dooyoo.


My addiction:

My first reason for the realisation of my addition is that within an hour of getting up in the morning I have logged onto the site. Of course Dooyoo is set up on my favourites so I can find it instantly. I find the site very easy to get round and I always check to see what new reviews I have read and if any of my friends have written new ones while I as asleep.
I then have a read on some of my favourite authors on the site and rate them and check my e-mails at the same time.

I suppose I am fortunate in that I only work part-time these days, although I miss the money it does mean I can send more time on here. So after doing my 3.5 hours at work, I switch on my computer at home and see what I have missed on Dooyoo. This is a busy site and whatever time of day it seems there are more reviews that need reading. I used to try and read all reviews but that is simply not possible, so I am more selective reading authors that I like and one's that read my work too. I rarely read churners or new members because of the time element and experience has taught me that new members often revenge rate your work, if you score them down. So I rather not go there it is frustrating.

I enjoy writing reviews and getting feed back from members about what I have written. Constructive feedback has really helped me in the past and while you may not always agree with what someone has said they are more than entitled to their opinion and it is meant to help you. I try and write about three reviews a week; of these two will be my great passion of books. Since joining Dooyoo I have gained in confidence and started to review other products and services.

My favourite day very sadly is Tuesday as that is the day new crowns are announced. In the course of the week I will have read, rates and commented on many many reviews. So I will also have nominated quite a few different writers for crowns. On Tuesday's I like to go through all those who have been lucky enough to win these and re-read the reviews. I like to see if my thinking has been on the same wavelength as the judges, usually even if I don't agree I can see why a review was won one of these.

I know it may sound strange but it makes me really happy when I see writers and reviews I really enjoyed receiving crowns. Often you can see how much effort has been put in and it is really good to see this rewarded.

I know I must be addicted to Dooyoo as whenever I am planning to purchase something, I always first check to see if anyone has reviewed it on here. I find that really useful and will always try and bear their comments in mind, so I don't waste my money on a product that is simply not worth it. Of particular interest not surprisingly is books, so I love to read all the book reviews and if it sounds like something I would like it goes on my list of too read books.

Finally last thing at night before I go to bed I will check all those who have been kind enough to read and rate my work. I will then make sure I have returned them. I'm sure from time to time I miss a few but no one has yet told me off for it yet. I can then go to bed with a clear conscience. I haven't yet got to the stage where I get up in the night and have a quick check, I think if I ever I do then I will have to get some help.
Maybe we need Dooyoo addict groups?

I would not like to work out how much time I spend on Dooyoo a week as even when I'm not active on the site it is still in the background on the computer. But for me it's far more enjoyable and entertaining than television.

Even while I have been writing this review on Word, I have checked Dooyoo a couple of times to see what new reviews have been written. Concrete proof that I must be an addict. I am taking my parents away for a week in the end of May 2009, I'm really not sure I will survive without Dooyoo for a whole 7 days!!

But seriously I really enjoy both reading and writing reviews and this site I find it very enjoyable and the people on it are lovely, really friendly and kind. It is my choice to spend as much of my spare time on here and I wouldn't do it if I didn't like it so much.

Conclusion:

A total addict!! It is something I really enjoy, so I'm not planning to go anywhere. I learn quite a lot from reading some of the excellent reviews on here and it's great to see other people's sometimes contrasting view on subjects. Even if I don't agree with it, I respect their views especially when there argument is clear and well written. Thanks Dooyoo for a great site.
