Advantages: They exist, quite a few are given out.

Disadvantages: Feels like a bit of a lottery, frustrating when you dont receive one for a review you're proud of.

Dooyoo crowns are 1500mile awards for what the Dooyoo team claim are premium reviews of particularly high quality.

You only need to check the "New Reviews" section of the site to see just how many are churned out by so many users per day. As a result, Dooyoo crowns to me, appear to be something of a random draw. So often now have I noticed reviews of superb quality passed over for crowns in favour much worse ones. In my opinion, I have far, far better reviews than the ones I have received crowns for, and am always genuinely surprised at the choice when I receive a new one.

Its best not to chase or expect crowns, because you'll only be disappointed. According to the Dooyoo team, there is no "Magic formula" but still, its hard to tell exactly what Dooyoo are looking for, as apart from looking at recent crowns, very few guidelines are given.

I once complained to the Dooyoo team before I had received my first ever crown, saying something along the lines of;

"Hi, I noticed you gave a crown to this particular review. I have reviewed the same item, and feel my review to be of a higher standard, here are my reasons why; blah blah blah..."

I was met with a polite response, explaining to me that there are a lot of factors to be taken into consideration, and when I inquired further as to what my review was lacking in, I was more or less told to go and look at reviews that have been crowned. This response wasn't all that helpful, but strangely enough I did receive two unexpected crowns for some reviews the next day.

It was at this point that I just decided to stop bothering people and become more complacent about the whole thing, in spite of my disappointment I didn't want to get into trouble by starting a war with this site. I have since found that rather than spending hours upon hours writing one amazingly detailed and concise review and sitting back waiting for a crown, its far more effective and better to write a great deal of, still very high quality reviews and be satisfied when you receive a crown. So whilst the whole thing does feel like a bit of a lottery, at the end of the day I suppose its just free cash and minimal encouragement, and should just be seen as a little pat on the back now and then for your loyalty to the site. At least they exist.

Summary: Don't expect or chase them, just be pleasantly surprised when they roll in I suppose.
