This is a short little story to scare any of you drink drivers out there. Okay, so you’re probably thinking, I’m not a drink driver, I only have a couple of drinks if I’m driving. But that is where you are all wrong. Even having a sip of alcohol before driving means you are drink driving.

Fortunately, I do not like alcohol. I will be taking my driving test in about 2 months time and drinking will not even be an issue with me. Alcohol is an evil drug, I have no idea why it is legal as it kills 300,000 people on average a year in Britain alone. Can someone please tell me the logic in this? It is physically addictive, dangerous and slows down you’re reactions whilst increasing your confidence. A lethal combination.

So, drink drivers think to themselves, I’ll just have one drink. This drink helps them to relax, they feel more confident and don’t have a care in the world. After this drink, they might think that the alcohol has not affected them at all. So they will have another and possibly another. By the time it does come to driving, the alcohol has made the driver think they are absolutely brilliant and can conquer anything. The driver will forget that he has had maybe one too many and think his driving has even improved. As you know, this is not the case.

I am very easily upset by gory sights, especially car accidents. I could not bring myself to look closely the other day but my fellow passengers did... We were driving up a very narrow one way road, full of trees and high banks either side. As we turned the corner we almost bashed into a car that was completely upside down. The wheels were still spinning, it had obviously just happened. Some guy, aged about 40 was swaggering around the road, blatantly pissed out of his face. He said he hadn’t seen the corner, and smashed into it.

All the windows were smashed and the car was over-turned, I was surprised he was still alive. As my friends go
t out to inspect the car, one of them noticed there was a boy trapped underneath, covered in blood but still alive. The driver didn’t seem to remember he had someone else in the car.

We don’t know if the boy was alright, we had to leave and give room for the fire engines. The sad part to the story is that the drink driver, was the boy’s Dad.

I think I’ve said enough really.

A harrowing tale, I hope it makes some people stop and think about what they are doing.

Horrible image you've just given me!! I don't think alcohol is the problem... but the person is. If I drive after drinking it will only be after 1 pint. If I have any more, then I will not drive at all. If the person is responsible, then drink driving won't occur. Alcohol is great... it just doesn't go well with driving/operating machinery/working/running !!! ;-)
