Advantages: socially acceptable, makes you think you can drive fast, means you can still enjoy yourself

Disadvantages: possible death, possible death of others, possible death of motorcyclist enjoying himself on his bike

I have been riding motorcycles for around 6 years now and I have witnessed, on countless occasions, drink driving. Police should be concentrating their powers on catching people doing this as well as mobile phone users, not speeding at all, and I don't talk from being a points receiver. I just think someone over a 60mph speed limit by 10mph should not be thought of as a criminal. Besides, it's been proven that those who slightly exceed the speed limit are more aware of their surroundings.

Despite this, my Dad used to drink and drive, normally 5 pints, due to the 'old days' almost pear pressuring people to drink. Thing is, this might have been relatively safe then when there were fewer cars and slower ones too, though the roads were a little worse I suppose. These days, car and bikes go faster, there are more of 'em, roads are better (urging people to increase their speed) and other things.

There are many others points, but I'm sure others have already commented on them.

Ahhh, it you again! Yeah, sorry about this first one, I'd only got started and didn't really want to waffle on cos' I didn't know how long I had. As for the breath test, he never got caught but I did refuse to be in the car with him if he'd had more than a pint of weak'ish stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm not teetotaller and do get drunk when possible (Cider's my thing), but riding a bike means your a lot more out there as I'm sure you know. So when you see someone swerving infront of you...well...GRRRRRRRRR. I just wish I had enough time to stop and call the old bill. You know, the strangest thing is I didn't evolve this mentality through personal experience of a close death or other, it's just the way I've always been. Cheers, Chris

Promisiong start to the op, but you can make more of it.

Can i suggest that you speak to your Dad and ask him how his attitude has changed since the breath test came in - in 1967 ?
