The drugs tests for athletes in Sydney during the Olympics will be the strictest and most thorough ever seen at a games. By the end of competition around one third of all competing athletes are expected to have been tested, and while this purge on finding the cheats must be applauded there will still be almost 7000 athletes who will not have been ...

Athletes are under tremendous pressure to get that gold medal. Millions of dollars of sponsership depends on fractions of seconds or a few millimeters. How many companies are going to build an entire advertising campaign around a silver medalist? Look at Kelloggs and Tim Henman. The company is still living down choosing Mediocre Tim. I will ...

Premium Review Drugs in Sport (Doping): Don't relax the rules - but look at the testing (459 words)

The whole purpose of the Olympic games is, and always has been,an attempt by individual athletes to be higher, stronger and faster - to gain recognition and glory for excelling at a particular sport or discipline. I would have no objection to athletes taking performannce enhancing substances if the rules were the same for everyone. As it is, those ...

This opinion is mainly about the drug abuse at not only the olympics but in all sports. As has been proved, many food substances can contain certain drugs which can show up at a doping test. They do random tests in order to prevent cheating. It is classed as cheating because certain drugs can improve an athletes performance. ...

Rating:

The time has now come for the olympics to be updated. The only topic of discussion surrounding them is who is on drugs and how they are going to get caught.I can see only one way for this to be rectified and that is to allow any athlete to jack whatever they want into their bodies. This would put everyone on an even keel and would lead to some ...

With the Sydney Olympics fast approaching and the quest to stop drug cheats ongoing, is it time that we gave in to the drugs cheats and allowed everyone to use every advantage available to them? I am starting to think that that would be the sensible thing to do. The reasons for this are: 1) Technology is ever improving and as fast as ...
