Disadvantages: Expensive, appalling alcohol policy

From also rans to County champions in the space of a couple of decades, Durham CCC have a very good and entertaining team at the moment. I've been to several matches of various types over the past few years: the cricket has been fine, but prospective visitors to the Riverside should bear recent changes in mind.
Last year, I took my children to see a twenty20 game. Great entertainment, good hitting and excitement is the bedrock of this competition: hwo disappointing then, that a big crowd was sent home after as soon as the minimum number of overs had been bowled so that punters could not get a refund on their tickets. Yes: it was wet, but to see the teams scuttling off on the basis of what was clearly a financial, rather than a cricketing decision, was nothing short of a disgrace.
My increasing frustration with Durham CCC has been compounded by the new rules on alcohol. In the past, when my mates and I have been to games, their has been a ration on the amount of alcohol that one is able to bring in. Fine: I don't mind buying from the club's bars as long as I'm not being exploited. To find that the club have now imposed what seems to be a complete ban on alcohol being brought into the ground gives them a captive market for what is pretty poor quality lager and beer.
I doubt if I'll be going back any time soon.
