Advantages: Lots of earrings to choose from

Disadvantages: painful at first

As was the case with lots of little girls, when I was about 10, I decided I wanted my ears pierced! My mum took me to a jewellers in town, and I remember being terrified of the gun but I got it done anyway, and was happy that I got to choose my own little heart shaped studs. It was quite painful for a few days, even when the winnd blew, it would hurt - and it stayed that way because my earholes then got infected and I had to get the earrings taken out and my piercing then sealed up :( However, I got them pierced again a few months later and this time, everything worked out.

I'm now 24 and don't wear earrings very often - only to parties, weddings etc and then I have to spend a while forcing an earring through. I should probably wear some studs once in a while to make this easier. I've always wanted another 1 or 2 piercings on each earlobe because I think it's a really nice look but have been too chicken to get this done so far!

I do love having the choice of wearing earrings and if anyone wanted to get their ears pierced, I would recommend it - there are usually lots of reputable shops/ jewellers in city centres who will do this for you - I would recommendd going with a friend who wants to get it done at the same time so you can be in pain together afterwards!
