Eating disorders - how are they caused?

Advantages: Are there any?

Disadvantages: Our society has to change!

In our society, many women are rewarded for being thin. Fashions in body shape change and it is currently popular to be thin. You only have to look at Miss America contests to see evidence of this. More than half of
Miss America contestants are 15% or more below their expected body weight.

What is going on with our world? Whether we are aware of it or not, we are driving women, and men for that matter, to become obsessed with the way they look and their weight in particular.

Anorexia is very rare within many eastern cultures. astern girls are usually slim, even underweight, so they don't share this "fear of fatness" that we in the western society seem to have.

In the west, obesity is often seen as a sign of weak control but the Chinese traditionally have even valued fatness seeing thinness as a sign of ill health.

We as a society need to change our views for things to change.... Good luck......

I personally feel that Eating Disorders are much more likely to be caused by deep rooted psychological problems.

Hi, and a slightly belated welcome to dooyoo. You could get much higher ratings than this if you made your ops a bit more detailed, and more reads from spending time reading other people's work. Half the fun of being around dooyoo is reading, so why not join in?

You make some good points, but I feel you could have expanded your arguments to make a better op.
