Electronic Money

Description: Do we really need notes & coins? With the advent of ever increasing forms of payment methods - smart cards, PayPal, ... more
Electronic Money ... online banking, credit cards, debit cards - is hard cash necessary anymore?
Furthermore what could be the effects of electronic money? Would a single European currency be necessary? Couldn?t we just as easily have many currencies run with local rates? Or would this be another step to an ever-growing Euro or even a world single currency?

when i think about electronic money, somethings do make sense, i use this prepaid voucher called Paysafecard to do some online shopping, you go to your local shop with a paypoint outlet and you buy this voucher over the counter, you get a 16 digit PIN code which i have used on Amazon. You can buy stuff online without having to use the credit or debit cards, it may seem a little less convenient having to go to your local shop but it means you can manage how much you spend and its a really safe and fast way of buying things online. Somewhere between Tyne & Weir and London on the 18th of October my identity and yours (if you have children) was lost by our Government. Am I upset? Nah....I'm F**king LIVID!!!! We live in an age of Electronic Money. I hardly ever carry cash because practically every purchase can be made by debit card now. There are plans to introduce Electronic Identity Cards with all our personal details in them and even a microchip under the skin. All your money is transferrable at the push of a telephone button or within a couple of clicks of the mouse. All you need to move your money electronically is the right information. I am very conscious of my ...  Read the complete review

electronic money is around now but it will be the thing of the future. there will come a time when paper money and pastic money will cease to exit. Current forms of eclectronic money is computer transfers. some examples are paypal and dozen other similar schemes. BT click and buy. Neteller is another one. the thing with all these is you have to transfer money into accounts in these companies and then use it on the internET. without internet most of these schemes are useless. In the future every person will have a unique number. Much like credit cards people will be able to use this number to pay for anything they wish. Much like debit and ...  Read the complete review

The short answer to this question is yes. for now. Physical money is needed so consumers can keep track of what they are spending in a tangible way. You can spend £50 on clothes on-line, and you can spend £50 in cash in a shop. The £50 spent in the shop has greater worth as you actually see the money physically leave your hand in exchange for the goods. This does not occur on-line and after a few purchases on line, it feels like you have spent nothing at all, and you start to descend into a financial black hole , where it doesn't really 'feel' like you're soending money. So thats why we still need physical money, for now at least, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Electronic Money: Please keep coins (313 words)

I personally do still enjoy coins and notes. That is still money to me. I use electronic payments because we have to to pay for things online but I do not see it as cash or even money really. I think that it would therefore be very dangerous to have just electronic payment methods. It is a lot easier to part with £1,000 of PayPal payments (even though it is still coming straight from your Bank Account) then it is parting with £1,000 cash. Cash always makes you think twice about spending the money (it is also easier to pay with credit cards and switch rather than cash as it is not visible money). There is also the added problem of security and ...  Read the complete review
