Electronic Voting ... should it be made compulsory with penalties for those who abstain? Is a truly democratic nation a good thing?

Newest Review: ... 90% off all detected election fraud in Britain has been done in Asian boroughs, religion and culture getting the better of democracy. Now you know why we will never bring democracy to Iraq! http://www.parliament.uk/commons/lib/r esearch/notes/snpc-03667.pdf A recent report found that people who vote want to vote, vote, and unless you introduce compulsory voting, no one else new will be ... more

These days my electronic in-box is full of offers for extensions. Be it for my over draught, porn collection or my willy, they just keep coming, only one out of the three stored in my draughts! Ladies need not worry-but my bank manager should. But what I won’t be asked to do over the net-or be participating in-in the near future is vote, the last trail run in the U.K being a bit of a disaster. It seems electronic voting is likely to be annulled in the UK after wide spread fraud and technical glitches were exposed in recent trials here. The first problem was lots of malicious spyware was corrupting the voting systems as thousands of unfiltered emails (the Viagra ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review No to Electronic Voting - Unless you increase the security (442 words)

Ok, now my first initial thought is not to have electronic voting. At least not unless they can increase the security and make it certain that only 1 vote can be cast person. Currently I do not see how this can be done and would feel very insecure in knowing that our future government would be decided on a measure that could be fixed and rigged. Obviously I understand the benefits of electronic voting, more people will vote because it is easy to do so, which is a good thing. We would have a government made up from the wishes of the majority of the country, rather than by maximum 40% odd that it currently is. One of the issues raised here is ...  Read the complete review

Was the US election fixed? The exit polls showed the Democrats safely ahead in Ohio, Florida and most other swing states. Where there were paper ballots, the exit results were the same as the official results. Where there were electronic voting machines, the exit polls were different from the official results by roughly 5%. The electronic voting machines were interfered with, to give Bush an extra 5%? Look at the graph at- http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/2004votefraud_1132004.html Online Journal has details of the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The time for E-Voting has come! (552 words)

At both local and general elections in the past, it would not have been unreasonable to have expected a turnout of voters of around 80%. Over the past few years, however, voter turnouts have slumped and at times below half of registered voters actually bother to make a choice as to who they want to be controlling the country they live in. As we progress into the 21st century, more and more things are becoming possible with the use of computers and previously taxing tasks such as shopping or setting up a bank account are becoming easier to do quickly across the Internet. It is clear that the majority of people find it unreasonable to be expected to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Electronic Voting: Electing by Electronics (910 words)

The recent debates over Iraq and terrorism and how the government has treated the views of the British on this issue, has opened up a whole new debate about democracy. Throughout the 1990's, as the left moved right and the right moved backwards in British politics, the general public has seemingly become less interested in deciding who should become their MP with low election turnouts, seemingly pointing towards the disillusionment and apathy of voters. Whilst the occasional debate on controversial issues can respark people's enthusiasm for political issues, it is apparent that something needs to be done about people expressing their views via ...  Read the complete review
