Disadvantages: Attitude

England in recent years haven't produced the goods. Why is this?
I feel a large part of this is due to the high expectations of the english public and more the "propaganda" of the English Media.
You read the english papers and we are told England are the greatest team in the world and that it will be a easy win in whichever game they are playing. Before Euro 2000 the media virtually had England champions and that was only after 20 minutes of the portugal game.
On Sky we are constantly getting from many on how England will win The world cup in 2006.

the pressure the fans and media put on certain players cannot help- Beckham, Owen these player shouldn't have to deal with the pressure they recieve in their internationals.

Even commentators are doing it, I remember Kevin Keegan saying "theres only one team going to win it now , and thats england" (paraphrase) just before england were defeated. the expectation as though England deserve to win the game no matter what is just not a good atttude to have.

The England player are good, nobody doubts that, but as a team they dont perform. If the expectations of the team were lowered which would take some pressure off then maybe the team could improve and fulfil some potential that many people believe they have.
