Before the kick off of the game between England and Macedonia a question was put to David Beckham.

He was asked ?Is there a hole in your life on what England have achieved?

His answer was ?No not really?

If this is the case then he and other England players who think like him should not play for their country.

It is time for the prima donnas of football to hang up their England boots and make way for players such as Dunn, Cole, Carrick, Dyer, Rooney, Janus, Penent, Etherington, Bowyer and any other players who play with pride, passion and love for the game.
I feel that players? wages are to blame for their bad performances as they have forgotten where they have come from.

As for blaming one man (David Seaman) for the teams? shortcomings, surely the whole team is to blame. Things like that terrible corner happen all the time in football, it?s called part of the game. Does everyone in football have short term memories?

Let?s face the facts.
1 We are not good enough.
2 Players like Beckham and co all think that every time they put on an England shirt they are automatically going to win.
3 Football players are all too busy outside of football trying to be something that they are not.
4 If you are going to be a professional footballer surely the matches must come first.
5 There is no such thing as an easy game i.e. playing Macedonia or a friendly.

I always thought that football was a team game that when played properly was one of the most graceful and beautiful sports in the world.

I am a Tottenham fan and I hate to say that in the last couple of years Arsenal have played some absolutely awesome football.

So what is their secret?

Pass and move as a unit, know your position within the team and play for each other. Then you will fear no-one.
If the whole team knows their role and believe in themselves then they can become unbeatable.

Invention with
in ninety minutes comes from passing and moving and looking for your team mates, not just one person all the time. Spaces come from moving and working hard to receive passes. Passes come from players who look for their team mates, not just lobbing the ball over the top and hoping one of your team mates get there.

As for tackling and tracking back along with marking your opposition, where is the conviction and desire to win the ball and keep possession?

What has happened to ?if you can see it, shoot it?? Most keepers in the world cannot catch this sort of shot, so you either end up with a corner or a parried save that a striker can end up tapping in.

These are some of the things that managers and players seem to have forgotten.

The moral of this statement is, one man does not make a team.

WE MUST CHANGE OUR WAY OF THINKING

Interesting Op. It is easy for Arsenal to develop the kind of positional understanding, and subsequent crisp pass-and-move football becuase they are together week in week out. That is not so for England. Having said that, their passing was poor at times last night.

FWIW, I think your inference that Beckham does not have the pride or passion is way off base. In most England games, Beckham is often the only one displaying the required qualities.
