Advantages: Respected throughout the world, N/A, N/A
Disadvantages: Complex in its' simplicity, N/A, N/A
I am an English Teacher and language observation is a hobby that amuses me:- I mean really listened to the way people talk these days, specifically some of the sentences that actually make no sense whatsoever. The worst offender is a statement which begins with "at the end of the day" which suggests that no other part of the day has any significance, and only things can happen at 11.59.59pm. Next: "he/she turned around and said" this one requires little thought because it simply suggests that you began the conversation with the back of his or her head, he then turned around and said - curious! The one i'm particularly amused with is "he has really come into his own lately" this one albeit amusing, it is open to some very dodgy innuendos. Another one: "she was beside herself with worry" Now, unless human cloning has become a reality while i was asleep that one is a physical impossibility. This one's a beauty: " mark my words young man" So picture yourself standing there with a biro in front of someone, as the words begin to come from the lips you frantically wave you pen before that word vanishes an the next one is ready for marking. Finally: Next time you converse with your kids, listen to the following words which have completely replaced the correct words:- like this has become "lygis", like that has become "lygat" and like them has become "lygem". Its all true i tell you, JUST LISTEN!!!

- 09/05/02 Nice opinion :) Have you read the short story "The eyes have it" by Philip K. Dick? He wrote all its short story using these kind of funny sentences! |
