Before we begin, I must point out that although above shows several teams playing in the ENL, although many are actually playing in other leagues. The Warriors are currently competing in the ENHL. http://www.whitleywarriors.com The Whitley Warriors. The once great British Ice Hockey team playing out of the Hillheads Ice Rink in Whitley Bay, Northumberland. I say once great, because although now playing in what is effectively a recreational league, in the past they have been fighting for huge national honours. The Chelmsford Chieftains burst onto the Scene in 1987 in a newly constructed Ice Rink In Chelmsford. They were coached by Player Coach Mike Urquhart. They took on many local players that were playing for London teams such as Tony Cimelli and Karl Rogers as well as canadian player imports. The early 90's saw stars such as Karl Goebel, Rick Smith and Andy Hannah join the team of which Hannah still plays and Goebel is now a bus driver after marrying a local girl. They are a good team now and normally win their league but cant get promoted due to the size of the rink.
