Advantages: It's part of our lives
Disadvantages: I would like some internet sites to be free of erotica
I am sorry to disappoint (despite my beliefs on products like FHM) I would be unsure about introducing an erotic category on dooyoo. Okay, I’m going to explain why with a few of the pros and cons: Pros: I’m not prudish, I see nothing wrong with erotica as long as it’s legal and the people involved are well paid. I have to admit that most of the time it can be a bit tacky but that’s just because there’s too much cheaply produced rubbish out there aimed at your average Sunday sport reader. It would definitely attract opinion writers and readers. I heard a pub rumour (a reliable source no doubt) that the top ten millionaires who have made their money from the internet, did so in porn. Of course it’s a big earner. I doubt that will surprise anyone. It might be argued by some that as dooyoo already has a name for itself it won’t be seen as an exclusively erotica site. Erotica is a minefield for the uninitiated and discreet advice from dooyoo may help people make better choices when it comes to videos, magazines etc. Cons Lets face it, there are enough porn sites on the internet as it is. How many times do you try to search for something entirely innocent and porn sites? It happens (admittedly not as often as the media would have us believe.) If we start writing opinions on erotica then they risk becoming mere titillation in themselves which isn’t really the point of dooyoo (which I see as being to entertain and advise.) If erotica were included I think it would take over the website. If it’s as popular as dooyoo claim it is elsewhere in the EU, in the UK (with our more repressed nature) it’s bound to be a success. Wouldn’t it be a shame for every other opinion to be about a porn film? The income from opinions has been cut because of the popularity of the site, if erotica is included, the only way to earn wi
ll be by writing opinions on erotica because these will have by far the highest number of hits. Inclusion of an erotica section would prevent dooyoo being enjoyed by young users (or should be). Okay, at the beginning of writing this opinion, I was unsure but expected to be completely against the whole idea. In fact I have talked myself around slightly. What I suggest is a compromise. Set up a separate website for erotica with a different payment structure accounting for the increased hits on erotica opinions. People who chose to be members of both could be and could combine the rewards from both sites. People like me who would prefer not to read or write erotica opinions don’t have to and hopefully should not see our rewards suffer as a result. What do other members think of this idea?
